"The view was amazing but I booked early to get a ground floor. There was alot of beach erosion and they moved us to a top floor. I asked if we could have the ground floor and they said no! Im handicapped so it was a problem! When the people came in Friday night and we were leaving Saturday morning they said no one asked them or they definitely would have switched with us!"

"While This property sits almost directly off the main drag, It's quiet. We slept like logs. The rooms are clean and wonderfully decorated. The young man who was behind the desk during our stay was so helpful, and I really appreciate that."

"Property its self is suitable. However the beach access is horrible! We couldn’t fully enjoy ourself because there was so much concrete and sewage in the waters. Dead fish all up and down beach! "

"Property was suffering beach erosion after the winter and early storms on the Oceanside. But spectacular view from room and deck on the Oceanside. We should have asked them for a regular coffee pot. Very disappointed that the hot tub was not even warm. We went for beach horseback ride and for 62 yo we sure could have used it. Mgmt tried to get propane for hot tub . But just couldn’t. "

"Loved the breakfast, room was clean although a little beat up. Beach view was from the side window and not front view from a balcony. This is how the hotel was built. Over all, we would stay again. "

"Stayed in doubled bed courtyard. Friendly staff. Issues with shower. It was clogged up with bugs coming out when not in use. Water was up to ankles while showering. There was only one small mirror in bathroom with power source by the sink for hair dryer/straightner. Walls were thin. We could hear neighbors. Overall it was stayable for the price. "

"They did a great job renovating the Tar Heel motel. Clean, comfortable rooms. Bring K-cups with you if you are a big coffee drinker and don’t pack heavy. This is the best of old school Outer Banks, reminds me of when my parents would take us to OBX in the 70’s staying at the Beacon."

"Blue Heron's staff was very helpful and friendly. Room was very clean. Love that you are only one to enter room when there. If need supplies,simply go to office and get them. Love the no key entry. Receive a code and no worries about loosing the key. Room was updated to make it look nice. Price was very reasonable.Will definitely come back again."

"The Sand Spur was in the perfect location. The beach is very easy to access, and the pool was a nice addition. It was fairly quiet, and the staff were friendly. There is some age of the building showing through, but the overall stay was perfect for exploring the Outer Banks. "
