After I booked the room, I rang twice to check that the room was on the ground floor & both times not answered, so I left a written message with the booking & got no reply…….not a good start! On entering the room it looked very tired, badly needs renovating. No exhaust fan in the bathroom, the tap in the hand basin was so loose it nearly fell off when I turned it on. All the bottles in the shower were empty, no flannel/face washer, only 1 tiny bath towel for 2 people. The toilet was loose when sitting down on it. They supplied a tea towel but no dishwashing liquid for dirty dishes. The TV was definitely hit & miss, we could turn it on but then it wouldn’t turn off, so had to switch off at the wall. The bar fridge’s door scrapes badly on the cupboard/wall unit it is in. Surprisingly……..the bed was very comfortable, had great sleeps, even though the pillows were terrible. The walkway to the Hotel to eat was unstable and dirty, not a great look when you are eating there. The carpark needs major work, lots of puddles, which then gets dragged into the rooms.

Great location and people

We stayed at the Hawker Hotel Motel while visiting the Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park. The hotel is a bit rustic, but a great location. The staff of the hotel/bar/restaurant, especially Mike, was top-notch. We had a great meal at the restaurant and chat with Mike. Highly recommended!

It's a awesome outback pub, which sadly is in need of a complete upgrade. I was on a motorcycle trip with a mate and so our needs were Spartan.... Beds were comfy with clean sheets. Hot water in showers very welcome. Meals were fine.
