"This is a very comfortable property in a lovely peaceful location. Spacious, clean, comfortable rooms with lovely views and thoughtful touches in terms of facilities offered. Very welcoming hosts and a superb, substantial, fresh breakfast provided. Highly recommended."

"This was a great place to stay in Lisburn and as a base for a long weekend. It is very central and has a car park underneath which you pay for. The hotel is clean and well maintained, although personally I don’t like the exposed pipes and air conditioning systems ( quite common these days - why not hide them behind a ceiling??) The bedroom was large and a lovely big bed, large bathroom, strong shower and nice toiletries. There was a kettle, but no sign of the coffee machine that was supposed to be there. I enquired about it to housekeeping, but got a vague reply. Not an issue though. Breakfast was a buffet at the weekend and very good. It set us up for the day. We had to ask for crockery to be replenished and some items, but the staff was busy. We also ate in the hotel restaurant one night and it was very nice. The staff members in reception and the bar and restaurant were very friendly and helpful and that makes such a good impression. We would definitely stay here again if in the area."

Grand Hillsborough Castle is the official residence for the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, and is where members of the British Royal Family customarily reside when in the country. In 1920, this 18th century Georgian manor was sold by the sixth Marquess of Downshire to the British government (it is not actually a castle and the name Hillsborough derives from the Hill family that built it, and the surrounding village). Founded in 1981, Hilden Brewery in Lisburn is the oldest independent brewery in Ireland. It is to be found in the grounds of Hilden House, a Georgian manor once home to the Barbour linen company. Here it was that Thomas Andrews, ill-fated designer of the Titanic (the ship left from Belfast, 15 minutes up the road), was married to a Barbour sister. To mark the regeneration of Belfast’s riverside Titanic Quarter, a special pale ale was commissioned from the brewery. Other prominent guests at the house have included William Wordsworth and Edward VIII.
