I reserved at "The Sargon".
Upon arrival, my room was not available. I was asked to go to "Sargon d' Luxe", with an upgraded room, larger.
After reaching the other hotel, I ended up in a downgraded smaller room, with a wonderful 5cm coakroach in the middle of the room.
Hotel itslef is extremelly noisy. Restaurant on the 1st floor, walls quite thin, and the combo chairs+tiles in every room is terrible.
I won't go through the details of the reception, the ladies talking on the phone with friends, the half hour wait for some unknown reason etc...
I stayed in about 15 hotels in Saigon and this one is the worst experience.

First of all, i wish i had read the recent review on google, so that i will NOT have book this place in Expedia. The general location was ok in D3, however the actual location is located at the back alley. Cars cant go in so you have to walk into it with your luggage on the bumby road.
So here goes my story, i came to the hotel maybe around 8pm. There is no one to check me in except a sercuity guard who is just there to pass me my room key and tell me my room number. He told me the check in will be done tomorrow. which is still fine!
So i open the room door, the first thing that greets me was a foul smell. The kind of smell that like the room has not been used for a long time. I thought that was ok, i will let the AC run for awhile and hopefully the smell will go away. I unpack and went out, came back drunk slept and woke up the next day, the smell is getting worse, went to the receiption but there was no one there, went out and came back in the evening 7pm with some fruits, open the frigde and BOMBBBBBBBB!! Damn! hahaha.. the stench coming out of the fridge is CRAZY! and it lingers in the room for quite some time!!
So at this point i am going to request for a room change, went out again there is no receiption, spoke to the security whom cant speak english at all, luckily my Vietnamese friend is here to help me translate. However they refuse to change the room for me, or asked me to wait until the next day which to me is not possible. Hence i decided to leave this plac

Conditional 3 stars, its not a bad place
Cars cannot get to the hotel because it is down a barrow alley so you will have to tote your luggage about 100 meters to get to the hotel. They did help me with my big bag on a motorbike when the taxis were closed due to corona, and they helped me with my bags to my room.
Housekeeping was excellent at times, depending on staff. When the main cleaning lady took a break a lot of my clothes were ruined in the wash and mixed with other guest’s clothes, when she was there it was the best clothes washing experience I’ve had in HCMC. That’s why this is a conditional 3 stars because more than likely you will enjoy your stay I just experienced a 3 star stay.
Also, I did not rebook the hotel because the price went up bu double overnight on hotels.com and the manager told me he wants me to pay cash so he gets commission, I felt like I was being extorted. After I checked out I saw the price go back down to 1/2 on hotels.com, just seems shady to me. Another reason for conditional 3 stars.
This property is located conveniently to most city destinations via GRAB bike or taxi. There is a lot of local food surrounding the hotel and within District 3. The only thing is if you live on the lower floors, it can be quite noisy in the early morning as street vendors are setting up, passing by, and other motorbikes who sell banh mi.
