"Very clean and well maintained hotel . It does have a restaurant which I’d recommend book in advance as they have amazing menu. Staff were very helpful especially the two gentlemen who spoke fluent English and helped with my touristy queries and also with transporting my baggage to the next hotel, etc. The hotel is also very close to the station. Ideal for solo travellers. I would highly recommend this hotel and will stay here again"

"Our 1st room was great until we stepped on wet carpet that smelled like urine (huge area). Assuming pet (I hope). They wanted to dry it and have me star in that room! NO! Finally got another room. They give 3 coffees in room. After we finished I wanted more, I was told there was a charge. NOPE, I go get some elsewhere and ask for housekeeping to restock for next day. 2 ppl later get back to the room - no coffee refills or amenities- which they charge daily for. Took 3 ppl to get that finally. We go down to one of the restaurants to eat, and hostess shakes her finger at me and told us we could not eat there. No reason, just us!! As Americans we did get turned away numerous times, but the hotel I paid to stay in, especially 1 with a bar and restaurants. We checked out early. - and they will only reimburse the amenities we didn’t use!!!! Hard NO and warning to other travelers"

"Truly can't say enough good things about this hotel in Kyoto. Just a beautiful hotel. From the moment you walk in, the service is top notch with staff so friendly and attentive our entire stay. Most speak English so we had no communication difficulties during our stay. They even helped us book dinner at a restaurant outside of the hotel for a large group of 10 (which is not easy to do in Kyoto). The rooms are big, very sleek, large bathroom with separate sink, shower/bath, and toilet areas. The beds are very comfortable and we had a nice city/mountain view through a large window. We also had a small table and chairs in our room. The hotel has a beautiful lobby atrium with a wall of windows with all sorts of greenery making it feel like an urban oasis. The breakfast buffet is incredible. High quality food with an impressive assortment of Japanese and Western options. And we thought the 4400Y was reasonable (considering we spent 6000Y in Tokyo for a lower quality buffet). Reasonable room service prices too (especially without the need to tip). Location is great near many restaurants, attractions, and trains. Though Kyoto is a large city, the hotel feels tucked away and rather private. Would absolutely stay here again."

"I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Hyatt Regency Kyoto. The exceptional service stood out most. During my stay, I accidentally left my passport and IDs at the hotel bar. After I contacted the front desk, they quickly retrieved them and placed them securely in my room, which I greatly appreciated. I was initially unsure about being assigned a Garden Level (B1) room, but it became one of my favorite aspects of the stay. Located beside the hotel's Zen rock garden, it was a pleasure to open the windows each morning and enjoy a coffee overlooking the tranquil setting. I also appreciated the room's Japandi-inspired design. The blend of Japanese and Scandinavian influences felt elegant, modern, and relaxing. The only notable drawback was the bathroom layout. The vanity and shower areas were open to the room with limited privacy. The toilet was enclosed behind a self-closing sliding door but lacked a lock. This wasn't a major issue for me, but it may be a consideration for those sharing a room. Overall, Hyatt Regency Kyoto delivered an excellent experience with beautiful design, a serene atmosphere, and outstanding service. I would gladly stay here again on a future visit to Kyoto."
