"We stayed at this hotel in Kyoto City and had a great experience! The location is very convenient—close to the subway and Nijo Castle, which made sightseeing easy. We booked the Japanese-style room that fits five people sleeping on futon beds, and it was comfortable and spacious. The hotel itself is a bit old, but it has everything you need, including a private bathroom, air conditioner, and air filter. The price is very affordable, perfect for travelers who don’t mind an older building.

"The room was beautiful and clean. The staff were lovely! I loved the Japanese style breakfast we had! It was really nice that they also had activities, I was able to participate in a green tea ceremony. It was close to shopping and food nearby. I love to stay here again."

"A great location to explore Kyoto. We had the Bamboo Room (Take) which was huge, more than enough space for the average family with two bedrooms. The kitchenette was useful, and the washer-dryer in the room was a convenient surprise in the middle of our holiday! The breakfast option is outsourced and whilst convenient there are other options nearby. "

"It was a very unique experience. They were agreeable, and when language was a barrier, even those who didn't know English, they were fluent enough to understand what you were saying and what you wanted/needed and delivered promptly. While I did attempt to use my limited Japanese, it was just that, limited. Whenever I'm in Kyoto again, I would likely come back to this Inn."

"Pengalaman baru menginap di Ryokan. Kami memesan kamar Japanese Style, dengan tempat tidur Futon. Hotel juga menyediakan layanan fasilitas public bath atau onsen. Dan jangan lupa memesan sarapan pagi Japanese breakfast, sangat menyenangkan. Lokasi hotel sangat dekat dengan Nishiki Market."

"Kyoto Ryokan Hirashin's best feature is its excellent location that allows walkable access to just about every magical aspects of Kyoto: Outrageously fun shopping options, unmatched food choices, outstanding ease to public transportation, awe-inspiring visitation to world-famous temples/shires/palaces/castles/landmarks, etc.
Additionally, staff members were superbly attentive to guests' needs, quick to help, and made my 18-day stay an absolute joy."

"I really enjoyed my stay here at Ryokan Sawaya Honton. For me i wanted an authentic older style accomadation, and this place delivered. They do have washing machines and dryers, so you can do yourself when it suits. Its clean and quiet, and on a relatively quiet street. The best was the public bath at the end of the day it was so lovely to soak in the hot tub. Tattoos ok. I highly recommend this great establishment for long or shorter stays. Thank you Ryokan 🙏😊👌"

"Great location between tourist sites but not in a touristy area. Good choices for neighborhood restaurants. It is ideal location and size for family to four. Six is possible but a little tight. Morning run to imperial palace gravel ground is a big plus. "

"Even if you can only afford to stay here for one night, do it. If I could use only one word to describe the experience it’s magical. The family that owns and runs the hotel are the kindest, sweetest people I have ever met. The entire family even walked me to the door when I left and stood outside, waving and making sure I was safe. They speak good enough English to have a conversation with them and answered all of the questions I had about the property and their family. The room itself was...

"The room was thoughtfully designed and the property is beautiful. If you happen to forget any toiletries, there are plenty provided.
The owner was very kind and he provided precise recommendations for transit. He also provided us with a map of Kyoto as well as a general guidebook for tourists.
I absolutely recommended this location for your next stay in Kyoto. "

"We are so glad we stayed here! Staff were just so sweet &very helpful when it came to questions about our plans for the days (helped we know some Japanese as their English is limited). The facade is tiny, so easy to miss, but discovered this inn is much bigger than it appears when we took the lift to our AMAZING trad Japanese breakfast! We booked a family room- 2 adults, 2 teens). Weren't expecting much coz Japanese rooms are notoriously small. We were shown a room with a dining table (with tea&...
