"Ich wollte unbedingt einmal in einem Ryokan übernachten und habe mich deshalb für diese Unterkunft entschieden. die Unterkunft an sich ist sehr schön. Die Nacht war dann doch etwas anstrengend auf dem Futon. Später hab ich mir aber einen zweiten aus dem Schrank darunter gelegt. Die Gegend würde ich als sehr ruhig beschreiben. Man muss mindestens einmal Bus und Zug fahren, um direkt nach Kyoto zu kommen. Aber dennoch kann ich sagen, ein Aufenthalt in diesem Ryokan lohnt sich durchaus."

"Kyoto Ryokan Hirashin's best feature is its excellent location that allows walkable access to just about every magical aspects of Kyoto: Outrageously fun shopping options, unmatched food choices, outstanding ease to public transportation, awe-inspiring visitation to world-famous temples/shires/palaces/castles/landmarks, etc. Additionally, staff members were superbly attentive to guests' needs, quick to help, and made my 18-day stay an absolute joy."

They were agreeable, and when language was a barrier, even those who didn't know English, they were fluent enough to understand what you were saying and what you wanted/needed and delivered promptly. While I did attempt to use my limited Japanese, it was just that, limited. Whenever I'm in Kyoto again, I would likely come back to this Inn."

"I absolutely loved this ryokan--it was the wonderful Japanese experience I hoped for--futons, slippers, kimonos, tatami mats!! The dining was exceptional--many unique, artistically presented small plates; overlooking a lovely garden; tatami mats at low tables (although there were other options). Although the immediate neighborhood was nothing special, it is just down the road from the south end of Philosopher's Walk. If you're looking for an authentic Japanese experience, this is it!! If...
