"Family of 5, booked 2 rooms with ensuites. Everything was great from the amenities to the food and helpful staff. The Ryokan is around a 300-500m walk from the ski lifts however they offer a shuttle service every morning. You can also reserve the shuttle at other times to head out to restaurants etc."

I would have thought some level of quality control helped justify hotels.com's commission.
