"The grounds are beautiful and historic and when we drove up I had high expectations for the interior. I would not consider it anywhere near a 4 star hotel. The room was in a poor state, and paint was chipping from every surface, and the carpet was split down the center of the room creating a crater, in addition to being frayed and shredded. "Excellent location, walking distance to most places we wanted to go including the Royal Mile, Princes Street, Stockbridge, Holyrood House, National museum of Scotland, national galleries, Scot Monument, the list goes on. Hotel was excellent for breakfast and we had an evening meal on one of the nights which was also excellent. Bar has a nice ambience and staff very attentive. The room itself was so clean and bed extremely comfortable. Would highly recommend."

"Everything was clean. I loved my room. It’s not the most updated place in the world, but it had its own charm. It’s warm and inviting. The staff was great, and had good suggestions for tours. It’s kind of a pain not having anything nearby. No convenience stores or coffee shops. You have to take a train or Uber. I tried the connected restaurant twice and did not care for it. It’ll do though with nothing else around. Overall, it was a good value and I felt safe and comfortable"

"Holiday Inn Edinburgh Zoo was an excellent place to stay. The overall hotel was spotlessly clean and tidy, including the rooms. The restaurant was lovely as well and all staff were brilliant. Location was perfect. Zoo next door which we visited (amazing zoo) and easy access to the city centre with bus stops directly outside and every 10 minutes. Thank you Holiday Inn"
