Silver Dart Lodge
8/10 Good
"This was just what we expected. It is an old resort but maintained as best they can. Doesn’t look like anything has been updated but clean enough. Staff was very friendly. I would pass on the breakfast buffet if I went back."
"This motel is a great location when traveling through Nova Scotia to or from the ferry to Newfoundland or visiting the Cabot Trail.
There was minimal interaction with staff but check-in was quick and easy.
The room was a bit musty when first entering but after having the windows open for a while it was much better. The beds were clean and very comfortable and the washroom was clean.
The room had both a front door for entering and a back door to explore the back garden and go to the water. The view was great. There must have been 50 or more geese there around the grass and water when we arrived but disappeared around dinner time.
The buffet breakfast was good and had a variety of options. Coffee and juice were delicious!
I would stay there again."
"The location is beautiful and the food and music was amazing. We stayed in cabin 15, the mattress needs to be replaced, rolled into the middle all night. There were a lot of bugs in the framing of the screens.
Overall a good experience, just the cabins needs some TLC."
"Absolutely golden place to stay at! The staff were extremely friendly, helpful and understanding to get the key before check in time to fit my schedule of the day. They went above and beyond knowing I was a young female solo traveller a long ways from home, owner gave me her number to check in with to make sure I made it back safe and sound that night since I was going so far away so late at night for an event!
Room was clean and wonderful! Has a tv, fridge, microwave, sink, burners, dishes, coffee pot, shampoo and soap, towels, anything you need to eat and cook besides a pan and pot!
It was the perfect middle ground location for my plans to go down to waterford/Sydney one day and then around the cabot trail the next! If you want the best of both areas this is definitely the place to stay! The morning view has some beautiful trees which were in bloom-gorgeous and water in sight, my favourite. It’s only minutes away from all the basics of a community-gas station, Tim hortons, co ops, takeout.
I definitely plan on returning to this little gem again! Anyone who asks for a place to stay with a bed is getting my recommendation for here! Prices were fair and cheap for its central location to all the amenities nearby! Speaking to the staff was like speaking to a long time friend you always knew and I absolutely love how much they put into doing everything they can as honest as they can! 💜"
"I stayed here for a total of 2 weeks separated into 2 blocks for the conclusion of my work project in Cheticamp. The cottage is very cozy the bed is that perfect level of comfort. It is a cottage so expect to encounter flies from time to time; that's just par for the course. Angela the owner is a very kind person and great to chat with! Highly recommend visiting the local Coop and snagging a mini propane cylinder and some grilling meat and enjoy your evenings on the front porch grilling up a delicious feast along with a cold one!"
