"The Marmalade Hotel is in a nice location that’s just a short walk (about 1/2 mile) from the center of Portree and harbor. The property is a nice mix of an older renovated traditional structure (which houses the hotel lobby, guest lounge, and restaurant) and a new modern structure where the guest rooms are located. The property as a whole has a clean, contemporary feel and is well cared for. The rooms are clean, contemporary and modest with nice amenities. I would stay here again when I return...

"Main issue with the property is it’s location, the state of the access road which is narrow and full of pot holes and some of the rooms. They gave us a room in the attic which was more like a closet turned into a room. The bed was small and not comfortable. We were jet lagged and woke up late so couldn’t try the breakfast, but we did try the bar which was good but overpriced."

Dinner in the restaurant was fully booked by a large group when checking in. Would not stay here again."

"The perfect location for all of your Isle of Skye exploration. Nice staff and good clean rooms. My husband and I found the room nice with a beautiful first floor view of the grounds but a little cramped and maybe needing a little refresh. We were told it was an upgrade due to the view, however the room was next to the housekeeping closet which meant it was quite loud early in the morning. The breakfast each morning was lovely. Everyone we met on staff was really helpful and kind."

Some minor issues with cleanliness (multiple hairs on sofa) and slightly must smell to the apartment likely due to the constant rain and/or dogs staying there previously, it was tolerable but an air freshener would have been nice."

The man serving me - older gentleman, white hair - would have struggled to care less. No apology, he just blamed Expedia and gave us a room with no view, which wasn't how we wanted to end our trip. There are signs everywhere telling guests what all the rules are. The hotel feels like an old people's home rather than a holiday destination. ...
