"Fabulous hotel styled after western (British) hotels of the 1800s. Thorough restoration from 2018-2020 has brought the hotel back to its glory days. Food and drinks in the hotel are pricey and nothing to get excited about. Hotel itself was amazing."

"The staff were great from the get go, really welcoming and informative. The dining experience was so special with delicious foods (kudos to the chef). The onsens (2 inside, one outside) were wonderful. And the location was amazing—-a great view of Mt Fuji from our room!! Absolutely recommend."

"Beautiful, the in room onsen was amazing and the room was awesome. Great staff. Great location. Wish I could stay for longer- perfect to break up the hustle and bustle of the big cities. Make sure you arrive early- all of the attractions close around 5 pm, which I didn’t realize, but the staff stored my luggage while I went to explore on check out day. The only thing that wasn’t amazing was dinner, but I didn’t go for one of the higher priced wagyu steaks. Otherwise , a perfect stay."

"Sadly this hotel really isn’t suitable for Europeans or Americans. We were served with little warmth or hospitality upon arrival and not custom to our taste of breakfast or lifestyle. Everything shuts in the town centre at 5pm and dinner and bar ends 8pm here so it was a very lonely experience. Room was tired, dirty and small gestures such as no coffee offered at 9.35 (5 minutes after breakfast ended!) little things like this made a disappointing visit. "Clean and spacious room. The beds on the floor were not very comfortable, especially the pillows. Staff was very helpful in making arrangements when possible although they did not seem to know much about the Five Lakes area. Overall if you are interested in Hakone/Gora this is a great property. "
