Great value for money
Great price. Room was nice considering the per night cost. It was clean and spacious. Street Food Tour was fantastic. Hostel location may not be to everyone's liking.

Absolutely amazing place. Very professional and helpful staff. Very quiet atmosphere. Accessible through public transportation, bus station is 2 minutes walk. A lot of eating places close by. Strongly recommend staying here.

The short answer: just stay at Packer Lodge
The Packer Lodge provides basic but clean accommodation and excellent staff at basically the lowest prices you'll find in Jakarta. I stayed in the private single room. I was able to check in at like 2 AM with no hassle. Make sure to bring 200,000 IDR in CASH for the deposit. The room was basic, but clean. AC had no trouble keeping the room cold. There was tons of storage including a lockable closet. Sink does not get hot water, and the shower has a small water heater that runs out of water very quickly. I basically had to shower at a trickle unless I wanted to go to the public bathroom intended for the people in dorms (so why did I pay extra for a private room then?!) WiFi in the property sucks. I had basically no signal in either of two rooms I stayed in while I was there. Telkomsel, the largest cell network in the country, also barely reached the rooms. You'll have to go elsewhere or to the lounge on the third floor to do anything useful on phone/computer. If you can get a cheaper booking by choosing not to get the "free breakfast' I would just save the money, even though the breakfast is cheap. Pretty meh and there are tons of warung nearby with delicious and cheap street food. Laundry service is good. About half a load for $4, with 24-hour turnaround. Very cheap for non-DIY hotel laundry. The biggest reason you should stay though is the staff. Super friendly and helpful, and speak good English. Thanks to Felice, Gab, Yani, Keisha, and Dina!

Love the hotel but hate the WIFI do something abt
I like the location easy to go anywhere. Options are many. Food around the area i did not discover much. Hotel & room facilities are very good EXCEPT wifi in the rooms & even outside in the common areas. Its almost perfect if not for the wifi which is very frustrating. I cant get signal for my roaming sim when in the room so have to depend on wifi.But it is very bad.

The staff is amazing there, felt like a family!!! If I ever go again I stay there! Also really clean, have international chargers, breakfast tasty and free coffee/tea and snacks anytime! Really recommend this place, close to old town and ChinaTown Market, close to bus stations, if wanna car staff will help to order :)

2nd time here
This is my 2nd stay at TPL. The 1st was a few years back. Obviously after a few years of wear & tear, there're bound to be some aging signs here & there. Overall the high standards was kept, the place still well maintained. They have some of the best pods in the industry, free breakfast, free towel, free drinking water. WIR? Definitely.

Clean, friendly.
Staff at the hostel really tried to help. Some of them had good english. They booked our train tickets and solan me a SIM card (burnt they did charge me like 6 time the price).

Nice place and very recommended.
Everything was perfect. Free coffee and tea. The cheapest private single room in Jakarta. You can store the baggage after check-out. Transportation is accessable from the location. The only problem is the phone signal is very weak in the private room of ground floor.

A decent place
I enjoyed my stay, however I would have appreciated the bin in the bathroom being emptied on a daily basis as the toilet is not able to flush toilet paper therefore it's rather unhygienic.

Wonderful hostel
It was an amazing little hostel. Super cheap but comfy, the single room I got was wonderful, I had everything's I need for the stay. Staff really nice and location wasn't easy to find.

Budget and cosy hostel.
Knowledgeable staff who spoke good English esp the guy who was manning the night duty on Friday night. He was able to communicate clearly about transport queries. Weak Internet connection which broke down on most part of the day. Connection did not resume until later in the day.

Cannot believe how amazing this little hostel is!! Got a single room on upper floor and it has all that I ever needed. It's small but cleverly designed. Nice hot shower, air con, amazing staff, good common area where u meet interesting ppl. Will def come back!!

Affordable place to stay near Old Town Batavia
Pros: friendly & helpful staff, affordable single room price, very clean, free breakfast, comfortable bed, free strong wifi signal throughout the hostel, lots of storage space inside the room, hot water in shower, free to watch dvd movies, free filtered water, has microwave and fridge, free bags storage. Cons: lumpy pillow, can be noisy in the hallway, no elevator, limited hot water capacity in shower, no English channels on cable, AC kept turning on and off, heavy traffic outside on the main road, too many one way streets which requires a detour just to get to the hostel, no good food/restaurants nearby

4 night stay
I stayed in a single private room on the ground floor earlier this month for 4 nights. I would highly recommend this place. The room was excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful. I particularly appreciated the strong wi fi and drinking water on the top floor.

Second time around
Second time staying at the Packer Lodge. Not much has changed except the breakfast. No more cereals were included, just bread & spreads. Room is okay, small but comfortable. Easy 10-15 min walk to Kota area & cheap eats all located nearby

Hi there. Thank you for coming back to The Packer Lodge. We did make adjustment for the breakfast. We substitute cereal with paid Indonesian local meal for as little as USD 1.36. We have to make this decision to cater the domestic guests demand as they view as very western in term of breakfast, at the same time to balance the book as well :) Hope you can understand it. Exceptional hostel, very clean and modern
Best hostel ever. Fast internet with multiple wifi routers on every floor. Free coffee and filtered water all day. The staff all spoke excellent English and were really friendly. They're also very close to the airport, but still in the city, with lots of cheap food options within walking distance. I'll be back next time I'm in Jakarta.

Quiet and Clean, Close to the Airport and Kota Tua
Excellent hostel! I've stayed in dozens, and this is one of the cleanest, quietest, and most aesthetically charming i've ever seen. The neighborhood is primarily residential, adjacent to Chiantown, and close to a main road that has buses from Kota Tua (the old square) to the center of town. Free wi-fi is fast and reliable -- each floor has its own router. The top floor has a smoking area / garden and a kitchen with coffee and tea 24 hrs a day and free filtered drinking water. Taxi drivers sometimes have trouble finding the place, as it's fairly new, but Uber drivers can easily find you on the map. If you're looking to be in the center of the nightlife and shopping, look further south, but if you want a quiet and comfy place to stay while exploring the city, this is your spot.

a business with purpose and passion for quality
I was amazed at the quality these guys were able to deliver on such a low budget. The cubicle in which I was sleeping in the shared dorm was the best value-for-money experience I had in a hostel, as it had a private locker inside its area, which makes your stay safe and incredibly comfortable. I paid a very cheap price compared to the level of comfort I enjoyed. Staff were friendly and really helpful. The hostel manager is a smart entrepreneur with a focus on high-quality and strives to make his business environmentally responsible, e.g. encouraging to use water wisely. I believe he has a genuine passion for conducting business with ethics, which is a huge plus and I wish him, the staff and the whole hostel to thrive! A must-experience for hostel lovers.

A truly enriching experience
Had a lovely stay in the Packer Lodge for one night in a single room - very spacious, clean and comfy. The service was great - the staff helped me book Grabs, let me keep my big bag over the day and had good tips on how to get around Jakarta. It's a great place to get to know local people and I instantly was adopted into the family, taken round the city and invited to hang out. Thanks so much for the happy atmosphere :-)

スタッフさんがみんな明るくフレンドリーでHappyでした！ Welcomeムードもあるし、帰ってきたら声かけてくれるし 話しかけたくなる雰囲気でした！ 朝食がパン＆ライス、どちらもあったのに感動しました。 目の前の路地の雰囲気が、見た瞬間一瞬不安になる感じのところでした。 ３Fに泊まったのですが、All階段だったので大変でした。 シャワーの水圧◎。水回りも掃除されていて〇。 バス停が近いし、隣の隣ぐらいの距離に安いローカルフードやさんがあるのでフライトでくたくたになって到着してもすぐ食べものが調達できて◎！
