"This hotel is good for their large pool, large parking lot, and direct beach location. It also has a modest breakfast included. The building itself is old and needs maintenance. The room had an opening to the outside in the bathroom so the bathroom was always hot. The a/c in the bedroom turned on but didn’t cool the room much, when we advised the staff we were told that it doesn’t work so good when it’s hot and that locals dont have any a/c. There wasn’t wifi in the room so you had to either sit out on the balcony in the heat for it or sit by the reception or pool to connect. The pool was large and clean however lots of the loungers were broken so you had to prop them up using sticks from the beach. There is a nice bar/restaurant beside the hotel. This hotel would be betterwhen it’s cooler and a/c isn’t needed to sleep. Most rooms have 1 or 2 flights of stairs to get to. "
"Upon arrival, the front desk was disorganized and not customer service oriented. We were simply asked for a $200 security deposit with no explanation of hotel amenities—no Wi-Fi details, brochure, or map. The hotel appears poorly managed and understaffed, and some staff members do not speak English. When we were escorted to our room, we immediately noticed issues. The bar fridge was not stocked, and the floors were still dirty from previous guests. We had booked an ocean view room, but the view was extremely limited—this should honestly be labeled as a “partial ocean view,” as the advertising is misleading. While the resort itself is small, quiet, and the property is visually nice with beautiful sunsets, the room had serious cleanliness and maintenance problems. The towels were dirty, yellowed, ripped, and had makeup stains. The glasses had visible lipstick marks. The sliding door did not close properly, leaving a gap that allowed bugs inside. The blackout curtain initially didn’t work, and once fixed, we saw it was heavily stained and possibly moldy. Although we reported these issues right away, it was disappointing that the room had not been properly cleaned to begin with. We were also locked out of our room multiple times due to malfunctioning key cards (the door lock batteries had to be replaced). The safe didn’t work and required maintenance to reset it. Towels were not replaced daily, and the shower had low pressure with barely warm water. "
"Family of 4 (kids 12 and 12). We had a great time, great vibe and had everything we needed. We enjoyed the food (smaller selection but different themes and items everything). Wait staff and bartenders and front desk very helpful. Our room had some things like poor water pressure, one shower was cold. Some ants I. One of the room but they kept to themselves on the wall and didn’t bother us too much. Amazing sunsets and beautiful view. Jigged into town via beach in 20 minutes…walk in 45 minutes. Maybe 1.9 miles? Can also rent bikes in town for $10/day. Beach is very bike-able with packed sand and saw people biking all the time. Hotel tents for $30/day and they are newer and nicer than what we saw in town. We rented a car and 6 minutes to town. Lots of restaurants and shops in town. We enjoyed our stay very much. "
"Exceeded my expectations.
Room massive, two seperate bedrooms, lots of storage and an amazing front deck. Room was a bit worn, but was cozy, clean and unpretentious.I loved staying here and coming back here to relax. Many thoughtful details were added like the water in the fridge, the ability to bring food/plates/cups back from the restaurant to eat, and taps outside the deck to rinse sand off. The airconditioning was a life saver.
We were on the beach-not much of a view but easy access. We could hear the waves.
There were howler monkeys in the trees over our bungalow.
Parking was right near us in a gated section-Felt safe.
Morning breakfast was yummy and good value considering it was included in our stay. There were two options of eggs, toast and fruit or a Costa Rica Traditional Breakfast. Coffee and Orange juice was included but you had to ask to get both. It was served right on the beach which was magical.
We ate at the onsite restaurant many times. Most times it was a hit- the fish was fresh and very well prepared, the portion sizes huge.
The pool was a nice size and enjoyable.
Sadly didn't get a chance to get to the yoga class as hoped, but did book in for a massage- one of the best I've had.
Easy waking to the main strip for restaurants and shops. Security walk around at night, discreetly. Felt safe.
HAPPILY will return.
Cons: Shower head would clog with sand (We just took it off. Good pressure and heat, no issues). Pebbled trails on property-not easy on bare feet!"
"This place is kinda like an apartment..it is right in town and close walk to everything. Beach was close also looks like they have another building ON the beach . The breakfast was good ..the listing on hotels said it was included HOWEVER it is a charge per person . It was listed free breakfast and after they said there was a fee i showed then the hotels.com listing befroe i got to talk to manager it had changed . After we pointed it out.. so they discounted us and we were fine with it as we only ate there once..was good .. and they were very nice people ( still think it shoulda been totally included for us since it is what it said origionally but since they were nice it was not a big deal..plus there is grocery round the corner which we bought some stuff so we didn't eat out every time.
Bottom line its a good place , felt safe and lots of kids at pool..which we as a couple we didn't mind but if your lookijg for adults only it may not be for you with a small pool ( was nice and warm fyi.) We would stay again if we return to Samara "
"The service at Fuego Lodge is second to none. The pool area is beautiful We watched a highway train of monkeys cross the roofs one evening. Download WhatsApp if you haven't already. You may need it. Will definitely consider staying there again!"
"The place is only a couple minute walk to Samara Beach and about a 4 minute drive to Carillo Beach. Both are fantastic!
The staff here are amazing and go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and help you select some great adventures without getting ripped off. The food is top notch (and reasonably priced). Other restaurants are nearby too. The pool is small, but adequate to take a dip.
The room was clean, and the A/C was great. There was a lot of room (we stayed in the King Suite The wifi was accessible everywhere on property, making staying connected to home and sharing our adventures on social easy. It also feels very private.
The only downside comes down to preference. The bed was hard as a rock. If you like a firm bed, then perfect. We like medium firm. Maybe they would've had a mattress topper if we asked. But we persevered.
Otherwise, for the price, this is an amazing find."
