"The staff had everything in order for a late arrival. Very smooth. My only negative would be there were no instructions on how to turn on the spa bath. I will say even without the bubbles it felt wonderful after a long travel day!"

"This hurts me to write as I grew up in Masterton and Solway Park was always such an icon - NZ's most complete hotel, etc... When we came back to town recently to visit family, I was excited for my kids to stay there. Unfortunately, what we found was tired and in dire need of a refresh. I went to iron a shirt - the iron splattered red gunk (from the previous tenant no doubt) across my shirt. I went to call reception to ask for a new iron - the phone didn't work... I had a shower - the water ran cold after about a minute... Hopeless. And, as a local, embarrassing Oh, and I have to buy a new shirt now too. "

"Parking was next to a derelict car. What can I say in favour of the room? The lamp shade was nice. other than that the room was appalling. The room was very smelly, old, tatty, damaged worktops, damaged shower, no Jug/kettle, no hairdryer. Amenities were very basic. Curtains were tatty. The staff were unhelpful. The lady who gave us the keys insisted on taking my credit card details to cover "incidentals" The photos in their brochure is of a new block. We were put in the older rooms which need bowling over."

"Waited in reception for 20 minutes before being seen by the receptionist that had no manners and demanded everything, room was filthy and not what I had booked for, came back to the accommodation the next day later in the afternoon and rooms had still not been cleaned. Overall I give the motel a bad rating & definitely won’t be staying there again or suggesting to anyone. "
