Not to be recommended
Although I told the receptionist that I had already paid for the stay to Hotels.com and showed him the receipt, he insisted that I should pay for the stay to the hotel.. He said that they did not receive anything from Hotels.com.
If you are comfortable to stay at a room like a college dorm, this facility fits your need. They provide American style breakfast (Two Toasts with Butter and Jam, Sunny side or Fried egg (two eggs), Banana, and Coffee or Tea). Sometime you may encounter blackout (not facility's fault), so I recommend you to have a battery for smartphone, and flashlight. They have a scale to check your luggage weight before your departure. Just ask at a front desk.
The staff at Andes house were fantastic. They picked us up at the airport, helped organize a fantastic guide for the Annapurna circuit and fed us a delicious breakfast. The water cooler in the hotel is also very handy. They were also very quick to fix our toilet when it broke. Very convenient location right in the heart of Thamel and close to the tourist bus station. Rooms are basic but everything you need.

Iets prijzig t.o.v. Een hotel in Thamel.
We stayed twice. Dipak and Babu are very nice hosts and I would highly recommend staying with them. The rooms are simple but comfortable. There is always hot water and a nice area to just hang out. My son and I enjoyed the area, as we were walking distance to OR2K and all the hub if we wanted but had quiet to come back to.
No free toiletries in the room. Many strains on the bed sheets. Nobody never cleaned or checked the room for some new towels or a garbage. Stupid jokes of the owner about marijuana. The neighbourhood has no lights in the evening. Wifi works only in the garden. I asked for a calm room and I got a very noisy one! Disco at night and many talks in the garden during all day.
Great place!! Friendly staff, clean rooms, and a very pleasant garden/courtyard plus a balcony on top. Defibately not the cheapest in town, but THE most comfortable beds I've ever stayed on in a hotel (memory foam quality). Free breakfast included is a nice perk too. Nicely located in Thamel.
Certainly one of the best guest house in Kathmandu
My girlfriend and I started our 15 months world tour by spending 2 weeks in Nepal, and Andes House was our home base.
The owner is a very nice young guy ! He was always willing to help us enhance our stay by any mean.
The hotel is very well situated, only 2 minutes away from Thamel main street; but remains amaizingly quiet and peaceful.
Breakfast is included and you can drink as many tea and coffee as you want for free during the day (very enjoyable, particularly after spending a day visiting the city).
While going on treks, we left all our stuff at the hotel for free in a secured room.
Seriously, I don't see anything negative to say about this place.
What a great quiet place to stay. An oasis is the middle of the hub bub of the tourist center of Thamel. The staff is very helpful, courteous and kind. The rooms are clean and comfortable.
The room was simple, but enough space and very good for the price (12€). The staff was very friendly and helpful. They made some offers about tours but were not at all pushy about it when I was not really interested, and also made suggestions what I could visit without booking a tour or a driver. In other locations I have experienced that they really insisted on selling you a tour or something, so this was really nice and helpful here!
There is a nice quiet yard/garden where you can have breakfast. For breakfast there were eggs, toast and banana, good for me.
In the evening there was music from a nearby bar or club, but it was finished when I went to bed (around 11-12), but if you want to go to bed really early it might disturb you.
The location was kind of hard to find, you have to go a small way around some corners, at night it is a bit creepy, but not dangerous or something ( at least I didn't feel like).
Overall a very good experience with minor drawbacks.
