"The Welsh Rarebit is not authentic. Far too much bread and ham, not enough rarebit. Just blobs of a cheesy mixture piped onto large chunks of bread. Only disappointing part of my visit."

"Lovely hotel close to the lake and very convenient for the shops, theatre and main attractions. Staff at Reception and at breakfast were all really pleasant and helpful. Arriving in a car is a bit of a nightmare: the entrance is in a very tight and busy street, so finding somwhere to wait while paying for the hotel car park and getting directions was difficult. If we could have paid for the parking in advance and driven straight to the car park, that would have been much easier. Breakfast was cooked to order, but really nothing special: one piece of bacon and one (very ordinary) sausage in the Full English breakfast, but a nice spread in the buffet selections. For such an expensive hotel, charging extra for the avocado and other 'special' breakfasts seemed to be taking a liberty."

"I had a pleasant and comfortable stay. I only ate at the hotel one evening but the salmon fillet was delightful. All of the staff were polite and friendly whilst remaining very professional. Nevan, in particular, was remarkably calm, professional and attentive in the face of multiple large coach-parties in addition to private guests, making him a true asset to the establishment. "The hotel is in a great location and enjoys a lovely reception with bar area and amazing views over lake Windermere. The staff are super friendly and the spa is just great. Food was excellent having eaten evening meal and breakfast with all cooked fresh to order. Recommend and will stay again"

"Clean room 21 thank you. Taps could be improved. Flush mechanism in toilet poor. Requires new fill valve to allow correct amount of water in to give a reliable flush. Not good for 2 days stay!"

"Very clean room and the staff were great and very helpful without being intrusive. We had the continental breakfast which was great and plentiful choice. We used the spa daily, the pool was like stepping into a bath it was so warm and we enjoyed the sauna and steam room. Would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a quiet relaxing break, we took the boat to Ambleside and back and the girls in the kiosk who were very informative and pleasant. The hotel is on flat land with lots of space for walking or sitting out and having drinks hot or cold. Suitable for those of us who have mobility problems. Two lifts are available but there is a bit of a journey to reach them as they are situated in the new part of the hotel but, can’t be helped as it would have ruined the grand style if they tried to pit them near the reception Parking outside is chargeable to a separate company. Blue badge holders can park free if a token is obtained from the hotel and all others must park 400 yards further away with a token but can unload in a space outside the hotel."
