"It wasn’t clear when booking that there was a cut off time for checking in (I did manage to find it buried in a submenu after being told that our planned arrival time was too late, and that no one would be there to check us if we arrived late). Had we seen it ahead of time, we would have booked somewhere else as we were coming from out of province, and never assume that there won’t be traffic or other delays that could prevent us from reaching our destination in time (we literally sat on the TransCanada Highway less than a week ago for 5 hours due to an accident that shut the highway down completely in NFLD).
We did manage to arrive with 15 minutes to spare, and were shown to our room by their teenage son.
Room was good for the price. Just a bed, fold down table, one chair and one lamp. Shared bathroom in the hallway, which was clean, and despite being in the room next to the bathroom, didn’t notice other guests using it.
Decided to have breakfast onsite in the morning. Ordered eggs benedict with soft poached eggs, was told no promise on eggs, and they came out hard boiled, which was a bit of a disappointment. But otherwise food was ok, and reasonably priced.
Had read a number of reviews about the friendly customer service, but honestly it felt a bit forced, and standoffish until right before we were paying for breakfast (and leaving a tip).
If we were in the area again and needed a place to stay, we would stay again, but with an adjusted expectation of our experience."
