"Michael and his wife, Kotoha, are genuinely lovely people. They were incredibly warm, friendly and accommodating, and made me feel very welcome during my stay. The hostel itself is very well kept, exceptionally clean and tidy, with great facilities and everything you need for a comfortable stay. I really enjoyed my time here and would 100% stay again. Highly recommended."

"This place has a lot of character and was a great experience. We didn’t book the Irori dinner, which I regretted very much. It’s a hostel, not a hotel, so as expected it was a bit spartan. However, the main sitting area was lovely and interesting and the staff were top notch - warm and accommodating. If you are looking for character and tradition over modern comforts, you will enjoy your stay very much. It’s also just a short walk to Gora station where you can hop on the cable car and ropeway as...

"The room itself was clean (although a bit old - like the closet we weren’t really able to use). The bathroom was THE highlight. I wasn’t able to experience the onsen, but it looked great and they had a nice system to ensure patrons are comfortable (men attendance vs women). Not really an issue related to the hostel itself, but the one time I tried to check out the outdoor onsen at night, I think patrons had locked it so I wasn’t able to actually get in…
It is a bit of a walk /hike from the main...
