"Note: this is a traditional style ryokan meaning no shoes beyond the reception area of the building. Socks are provided to wear in the building.
Great location just a 5 minute walk from a JR and subway line entry point. Busses heading towards all the major tourists attractions also meet on the same block as the hotel. Onsen was excellent after a long day of walking. Free soba between 9:00 pm and 11:00 pm, free ice cream all night. I took at least 5 a night. Staff were great, free wash and 100 yen per 30 mins of drying.
Only cons for me:
housekeeping does not change garbage bins unless specifically requested. They didn’t swap our yukata’s for the same size on a few nights and gave me women’s L yukatas instead of men’s so I needed to ask for new ones. Not a huge deal, just a phone call. Beds and pillows are firmer than I’m used to but that’s just a preference thing. Wifi is shared across the whole building, so it can be slow at times."
