10/10 Excellent
"This is a beautiful hotel. Our room had everything you could want -- coffee, robes, umbrella, yoga mat, a sitting area by the window. There's also a coffee and tea bar in the lobby. The location can't be beat."
"Overall my stay was pretty good. The only two issues were my mini fridge wasn’t working and I lost my leftovers that sat in there for the two days I stayed. Secondly, I had a staff member tell me about a special tour and promotion, only to tell me somehow I was not eligible. Then he had me bring my son down to see if he could be eligible. He was only 18,not 21. So he was not. That was not very pleasant considering it was basically pulled back for some reason . I visit 3-4 times a year. I either stay at the Westin River north or the Royal Sonesta River North. The lost food was no biggie but being given a whole rundown about how the hotel was trying to build a new customer base and then being told I wasn’t eligible was crappy. I can’t lie. Everything else was pretty good. The happy hours were cool. Staff outside of that was generally ok."
"The hotel property was beautiful; however, the staff was less than accommodating.
During check-in, three groups waited 10 to 15 minutes before receiving assistance. While we were waiting, a staff member entered the office directly behind the check-in desk, where another employee appeared to be engaged in a conversation. That employee could clearly see the three groups waiting but allowed the door to close and did not offer assistance. The groups continued waiting for several more minutes before the same staff member emerged from the back office to assist guests checking into their rooms.
On Monday morning, my wife and I went to have breakfast in the restaurant. A sign at the entrance clearly stated, "Please wait to be seated." We stood there for approximately ten minutes while several staff members looked directly at us without acknowledging our presence. After losing patience, I walked down the stairs and asked if someone would be seating us. One of the staff members then informed us that we could seat ourselves at any available table.
While the property itself was impressive, the lack of attentiveness and customer service from the staff detracted significantly from our overall experience."
