Van der Valk Leeuwarden exceeded our expectations. The hotel is modern, elegant, and beautifully maintained. Our room was spotless, spacious, and comfortable. The staff were welcoming, professional, and attentive from check-in until departure. Breakfast offered a wide selection of fresh, high-quality food. The facilities were excellent, and the overall atmosphere felt luxurious yet relaxing. We highly recommend this hotel and would gladly stay here again.

Van Der Valk is an upmarket chain of hotels and the ambience was certainly classy, however only skin deep. The charging posts are ‘Ecotap’ branded but there is no such app in the UK Apple App Store. Octopus Electroverse app claims to be able to connect to them but none of the charging posts numbers match with any in the app. When the correct post was finally located in the app, the session repeatedly failed to start. The comfort room was advertised as having a separate bedroom (ideal for two adults and a kid) but it did not. The balcony runs uninterrupted across the front of all rooms, giving strangers access to look into your room (and open it if you forgot to lock the balcony door) and is intended for smokers to use to smoke outside rather than in-room. The toilet is in a separate room to the bathroom (good) but doesn’t contain a sink to wash hands after use (bad). The threshold to the bathroom had dirty marks across it and these were not cleaned away during our two night stay. Overall, I am giving this hotel an average score due to its poor design and impossible to use EV chargers.

I like the property alot looks very beautiful and luxury but the only thing that bothered me was no atm in the hotel and no way of public transport to the hotel , those are very vital things for people that need transport or money

A superb hotel by all means!

A superb Hotel! Overtall, one of the most pleasent hotels we have stayed at! It is a great base for exploring Friesland by car! It is also close to Leeuwarden, which is a great city that can be easily explored using bicycles rented at the hotel. The family room was superb by all means. Large and comfortable, brodering on luxerious, and we enjoied every minute there. Great breakfast!

Het verblijf was perfect zowel de kamer met uitzicht op leewarden en het grasveld, het eten en het ontbijt die prijzig is maar wel enorme keuze dus dat is het waard! Via expedia geboekt. Bij aankomst even zelf checken wat je nog in het hotel moest betalen anders is er verwarring over de toeristenbelasting. Je betaalt soms welness fee op de gemeentelijke tarieven dus check zelf wat je nog moest betalen en laat het personeel niet iets opnieuw berekenen. Uiteindelijk was alles duidelijk en door begripvol vriendelijk personeel opgelost. Tip de deur naar het balkon niet het handvat om hoog draaien. De waarschuwingssticker hangt te hoog die moet vlakbij het handvat geplaatst worden met waarschuwingsdriehoek. Heel fijn en per direct geholpen door het personeel anders konden we de kamer niet verlaten voor het diner met een open galerij deur (balkon). Volgende keer kom ik zeker hier weer terug.
