The Admiral Rodney Hotel, Horncastle, Lincolnshire
10/10 Excellent
"Charming hotel, helpful staff. Town centre location with parking at the back. Lovely coffee shop (No. 8) opposite and a great burger place (Franco's) a few minutes walk away if you want to eat somewhere else. Hotel's bar well run and stocked."
"Reception staff were very friendly and helpful.
Room was clean and had everything we needed - we asked for more green tea at reception which was supplied immediately.
Parking - we were very pleased we arrived early on the day (around 10 am) and were able to leave the car in the car park then even though we obviously couldn’t check in. Spaces were at a premium and as we had functions to attend all day that were walkable it was great to have the car secure and not have to worry about getting a space later on.
Bed was comfortable but the aircon went off in the middle of the night which was a bit annoying as we got very hot.
Breakfast was in a nice airy room with a view of the waterfront. Lots of choice - cooked, pastries, toast, cereal, fruit. Cooked items were not quite as hot as I’d like but cappuccino from coffee machine was delicious. Pleasant staff - shout out for the young lady who had recently broken her jaw - very sweet and friendly.
All in all, impressed with hotel and would definitely look to stay with Doubletree Hilton on future travels."
"Easy parking and location (15 min. walk into Lincoln)
Security good
Clean
Good amenities
Shower not very powerful and extraction fan not working
Had to manually close blind slat by slat as pulling system broken "
"Upon arrival I was shown to room stinking of sewage-
Then moved to another ok room. Took a 5m shower and found the floor flooded all the way to carpet. Used all towels to stem the flow and was then upgraded to a goods room with a not so good view. More modern.”, less stinky, no drain issues. Enjoyed it- went to extend my stay 1 night and was told price was 175pounds? I paid 96$ for previous night thru Expedia
Had to book a room 20m away, hire a car, and that was not good hospitality. They were kind, but maybe treated furry friends better than those with 2 legs and $/lbs!"
