The location was great, the property was in good condition and clean. The stay was good, but it would be nicer with better kitchen tools and cookwares. Also, it would help a lot if the key code and city tax were arranged before arrival, so everything felt smoother.

Except for the bathrooms, the rest of the apartment was immaculately clean and very quiet, with comfortable beds, working amenities. Check in / check out was smooth. Wonderful, helpful manager. Room for improvement - the bathrooms were smelly, probably coming from the drainage system, and could be better equipped with a few simple convenience features such as proper hooks to hang up towels and clothes, shelving to keep toiletries while having a shower, and extra bath linens.

Nice part of the city

Nice Apartment with balcony. In a nice neighbourhood close to the tram and bus. Hard beds for us Scandinavians.

Superb place for bigger groups in great area

Lovely stay for 5 days at City Stays Balem with family if 5 adults. Apartment had all the necessities and was in a quiet area (with supermarket nearby) and walking distance to Balem Waterfront. Best of all, communication with the ‘host’ was easy by WhatsApp and they managed to support immediately.

Out stay was pretty good. The size of the couch was good but not the bed. The bed was pretty uncomfortable and small. And also the utilities in the kitchen was pretty poor. But we felt safe and happy.

Clean and well situated apartment

The place was nice and clean and located in a central location. The only issues were the shower is a little awkward and leaks to the rest of the bathroom and the dishwasher was not working. Also the washing machine took a long time to do a small load of clothes.

Great Location and Host

This two-bedroom apartment offers the basic amenities needed for a comfortable stay. The nearby market, just a five-minute walk away, was a great convenience. The location is excellent—situated on a quiet street within walking distance of many Belem highlights, including the Jerónimos Monastery, Belém Tower, the famous Pastéis de Belém, and the CCB. Mafalda was a very responsive host and promptly assisted us when we encountered issues with the water heater and climate control system. One drawback was that our unit was on the ground floor, which meant limited natural light. The enclosed patio, surrounded by a high concrete wall, also blocked sunlight and obscured views of the nearby church. If access to light and views is important to you, we recommend requesting a unit on a higher floor—it would have made a big difference for us.

Beautiful Belem

Belem is a beautiful place. Our flat’s view was beautiful, overlooking the church and its garden. Our flat was on the top floor, carriying our luggage was a bit difficult. Location was convenient. Communication with our host was easy. Our host Mafalda was very kind and helpful. The accomodation meets all needs. Everything was good, except for the damp smell. The host put room fresheners everywhere which made the smell worse. It would have been better if she used lighter quality freshener.

We stayed at City Stays Belem for a week as a family in October 2024, my wife, our 9-year-old, and I. The location was convenient, especially for visiting nearby attractions like the famous Pastéis de Belém bakery where we went every single morning. Communication with the management team all right, and the apartment itself had a decent amount of space Unfortunately, the comfort of the apartment was sub par. Despite having the heating on, the apartment stayed cold and damp, making it uncomfortable. Clothes took three days to dry, and there was a persistent damp smell that triggered my allergies, likely due to signs of mold. The mattresses were also a letdown—overly soft, feeling like cheapest budget option from Ikea, which made for some of the least restful nights I’ve had in a while. On the plus side, we had a rental car, and parking was easy to find in the area, which made getting around more convenient. Most of my issues are probably fixable with a small investment and that would really help to uplevel, the place.

It was lovely spacious apartment. Overall We had very good stay..I would like to mention few things that it would be good if we have more kitchen cleaning stuff like cleaning clothes, hand towels,dish washer tablets as per days of stay , Heater for cooler nights will be provided. Also given 1 star less for cleanliness due to shower cube was smelling bit mouldy. Apart from all this amazing apartment to stay.

The apt can use a paint job, cleaner bathroom & shower. Supply of at least one dish towel would be convenient, replacement of frying pan & small supply of laundry detergent & sufficient liquid dish soap would have been helpful.

The apartment was really nice, much bigger than we expected. We are a family of 5 and there was plenty of room. We were there 9 nights and it was cleaned halfway through our stay, which was a pleasant surprise. Two washrooms came in handy with 5 of us. We did a quick load of laundry almost daily and hung it out on the drying rack. Very convenient. Great location, walkable to transit and the main street in Belem. The property owner was lovely and very helpful. Also accommodated us slightly early as we arrived early. Much appreciated!
