Rydges Newcastle

"Check in was smooth, upon entering our room the sofa bed was not made up at all for our children. Even though the front desk informed me it was. We only had two towels aswell.
We booked and paid for 2 adults and 2 children. Front desk said they would send housekeeping. An hour and a half later we called again and were told housekeeping were aware. We went to dinner and upon our return bed was made up. For one child only. Sheets had black marks, hair and what appeared to be pink lipstick on them. Rang reception for a third time to inform them. 5 minutes later a knock on the door - the man handed me sheets to make the bed. I asked him to come in and have a look. He was surprised. We stripped the bed and re made it. He then had to go and source another pillow.
Upon bedtime my children complained that the bed was uncomfortable. I tried it and all you could feel were the springs. This is a 4 star hotel. This was definately not 4 star. We are staying in a motel tonight and the beds, cleanliness are far above what we experienced at Rydges Newcastle. I wouldn’t waste your money on the buffet breakfast either. We went down at 9am. No hash browns. No pancakes. I was informed they had no more maple syrup for the day. Went to get cereal and there was no milk. Very basic, very average and not what I would except from Rydges hotels. Wouldn’t waste my money next time. Better places to stay. "

"Architecturally beautiful place. And love the natural surroundings. But it is unacceptable that what is advertised as a premium wellness retreat, does not have a sauna or steam room.
Super disappointing. "

"The standard of the house keeping was poor, the floors/carpet were not cleaned properly, towel were the smallest I have ever seen in a in anything other than a 3 star hotel, our bedding was not changed during the 4 night stay.
Despite booking a bed and breakfast package and a booking confirmation that said "free breakfast" and being given a 2 for one coffee voucher valid for the 4 days, when I went to check our they tried to charge me for anything other than one coffee or tea at breakfast and minor additions to the set menu like mushrooms with a smashed avo on toast.
Service in the Jana restraunt was poor and the menu had very few choices, fish, chicken or 3 types of steak with side of leafy salad or chips. At roughly $70/head for main and side the meal was expensive.
The restaurant on the river just down from the Hotel provided much better service and a great menu at about $50/head.
Overall I was disappointed with the stay, I booked the best room for 4 days for a special occasion and found that despite the impressive decor the lack of anywhere to unpack my suitcase (no shelving of draws, just 6 coat hangers for two people) detracted for the experience. I also note that there was some really crazy omissions in the design like a make-up mirror that was set at a height the was far too high for my wife to use and could not be adjusted "

Best Western Plus Apollo Hotel Newcastle

"No doubt the hotel was good , my kids found room to be pretty good but I was surprised to come to know that they were charged for the water bottles .In every hotel , two water bottles per day are complimentary kept along with electric ketttle and tea and coffee stuff but they were charged of the water bottles .This was something the hotel should not have charged for .Rest they enjoyed a lot and had a good experience
Thanks "

Crown on Darby

"We had the one bedroom apartment which is absolutely huge. It has two outdoor seating areas on opposite sides of the unit. Access to your unit, the building, and the garage are all a single code to remember. The elevator is quick, though there are only 3 levels (garage, lobby, rooms). The one bedroom apartments are strange in that you have to enter the code at two different entry doors before heading up a staircase to reach your living space. The rewards of the living space more than offset the quirkiness of getting to it. "
