"This hotel was very asthetically pleasing, from the grounds, to the rooms, and even the bar! We had a triple room (twin and a double bed), which was compact, but still plenty of room to move around. We appreciated being on the first floor as it was quite warm outside and the rooms do not have AC. We had a lovely dinner in the bar and also enjoyed relaxing on the adjoining patio. Staff was very accommodating and efficient. Location is an easy 15 minute walk into city center, which was a fun area...

When this is combined with the love for nature that the host Mary shares with you and staying in one of the shepherds huts all conditions for a perfect stay are there. Guidance to nice walks and places to see are part of the warm welcoming to Blackstairs Shepherds Hut. "We arrived to Kilkenny for a wedding on Thursday. We chose this location because it was slightly outside of the town center, had its own parking and was relatively close to all of our needed amenities. The staff were lovely and while the food wasn’t for my pallet, the rest of my family enjoyed it. We’d do it again!! "

The man dealing with us on check in was so so kind and chatty, we had arranged early check in prior to our stay and this was absolutely no problem which was great. "We had an amazing experience at the Newpark Hotel in Kilkenny! The hotel itself is beautiful and well-maintained, but what really sets it apart is how perfect it is for families. There’s Jurassic Newpark adventure park attached with a variety of animals to visit, which our kids absolutely loved. The playground and large inflatable were huge hits and gave us plenty of time to relax while the kids were entertained for hours. "Quirky from the outside but nice inside. Comfortable and clean. We were in a room next to the pub so we didn’t have any noise except from guests using the hot tub and they quieted about 930. Only issue we had was it was warm so we wanted the windows open but the staff used the space by our window as a smoking area. We were able to open after they left for the night. Small nice kitchen with convenience store across the street that had basic groceries for all meals. "
