I always reccommend Totara Lodge when friends and family mention wanting to find lodging near Wellington and have yet to hear any bad reviews from them either!"

"Had a small kitchenette with microwave and refrigerator with cookware and dishes. Room was very clean. Had a small balcony. No restaurant on site but there are options nearby. There is even a grocery store to buy water and stuff. We get very safe. They give access to a well equipped gym which was amazing. The housekeepers gave us bandaid when my daughter got hurt. I locked myself out by accident in night- the manager answered the ring and helped open my door within few minutes, even though...

"Better communication at the front desk better advertising on the facility provided eg dinning and cooking facility"

"Ther first room had an overwhelming bleach smell and the shower door was not clean, I could not sleep there! I asked for another room, it wa so little better, the bed was comfortable but I checked out early to book elsewhere."

"Very Happy with unit 7 Most aspects of facility were Excellent in every way...we did however find the bed a little too hard as our preference is a softer mattress base. The Hotel staff were very polite and informative and their service was top class"

"Located nicely! It’s a really good motel for such a cheap price! Clean rooms and spacious room! Love that it has a parking space for your car as well! Check in is supposed to be till 9pm but we arrived at 10pm - but the owner/manager kindly waited for us to arrive. The kitchennete is so big and had everything! The beds are so comfy and plenty of pillows! They have a big cabinet for you to pur your stuff in and plenty of hangers! Taking off some stars because in our room there was a bad smell...

"We had room 825 which was upstairs with a spa bath. Lovely views of the beach and plenty of room. Only complaint would be the towels were looking a bit old and Grey with some stains. Definitely need to be upgraded. Otherwise would definitely recommend. We stayed here for an event in Wellington, easy access to trains or busses into town"

"As they say - little things count! Positives - lovely location/ setting, great value breakfast Negativities/ fridge didn’t work so milk left for me curdled 🤔, glasses and coffee ☕️ cup selection limited ( $20 at the Sally’s would sort that out ) & no toilet paper 🤔"

"A wonderful place to stay! Very clean and has everything you need. Jin was amazing, so friendly and helpful and he made our visit very easy. Great communication when I phoned to enquire about a late check in. I would highly recommend and will definitely stay again next time we are in town. Thanks Jin for a great experience 😊"

"The property is clean but needs lots more TLC. The bathroom looks quite new and the kitchen was in good condition also. Having a hot plate and cooking equipment was nice but would have liked a table and chairs to sit at to eat. The front door was old, draughty and generally very flimsy and not secure. There is no noise insultion, so you can hear your neighbours quite clearly. Its one of 3 motels on the road and you have to collect keys at a different location. Not a place I would recommend."
