When I went to check in the front desk asked me for a DEPOSIT of $100 cash and I would get it back when checking out If my room was not damaged or dirty type of thing. I was just looking for a place to lay my head after a rough day I didn’t have cash on me came from out of town. I informed the front desk I was NOT AWARE I had to bring cash due to me already having the room booked so unfortunately I can’t put the deposit and same with the customer behind she was unaware so she took a second then let us proceed with checking in I just never been asked for a cash deposit anywhere it was strange

the staff seemed nice and welcoming. however, the rooms were quite outdated and had a strong and musty smell. the floors creaked and you can hear every noise through the walls. i did not feel particularly safe as a solo traveler. especially once i realize there was only one flimsy lock on the front door, and that the windows were only held shut by a single piece of wood. its not in a particularly bad area of town, but i definitely did not feel as safe here as i did in other motels just down the road.

Staff are lovely. No air conditioning so hot and smelly in the room. They provided fans after we asked them and promptly brought them to us. Carpet was old and dirty by the baseboards. Fridge was dirty inside. For 200.00 a night, it’s very low quality

the hotel staff with indian accent still need improvement in providing professional service: as they mentioned checkout time was 11am, however when we were running some errands and came back at 10am before checkout, the room card no longer worked, upon reporting issues at front desk, another woman with indian accent took the key holder coming up saying she will help opening the door, however she walked all the way down the hallway aimlessly, without ideas what to do, then came back repeatedly asking what room number is. Finally when the door opened, she spoke to us in a careless tone as "it's ok" -- huh? who told you it is? facilities are as described, no more comments btw, heard some loud noise in the midnight, which woke us once before alarm rang. opinion above is based on the fact, and the only suggestion here is to make your plans accordingly, depending on your budget and expectation 1 less star for service, 1 less star for disturbance, 3 star is the best we can give

Genuine Old School Feel throughout. Beautiful Bamboo wood dressers... large clean room. Super Cool Floor to Ceiling Tiled Shower, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, HDTV... Bed Coverings are among the softest I have ever felt. Windows on two opposing sides for awesome cross-breeze! Friendly, Helpful Family Owned staff. This place is a nice respite. Highly Recommend!!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had an excellent stay at Old Marina Inn during our Big Sur and Monterey trip. We were pleasantly surprised when we were upgraded to a very spacious room with three queen beds, which made our stay extremely comfortable. The property was very quiet and peaceful, allowing us to relax after long days exploring the beautiful Monterey coast and Big Sur. What truly made the experience special was the exceptional hospitality from the front desk staff. The lady at the front desk was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay. Her kindness and willingness to assist made us feel genuinely valued as guests. The location was also very convenient for visiting Monterey, Carmel, Point Lobos, and Big Sur while offering a quieter and more relaxed environment away from the crowds. Overall, this was a wonderful value and a very pleasant experience. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend Old Marina Inn to anyone looking for a comfortable, clean, quiet, and affordable base for exploring the Monterey and Big Sur area.

I’m surprised by how many stars this place had. It was old and rundown and filthy. The sheets were stained. We had a giant black hair on the pillowcase right off the bat. The toilet clogged. We decided to not even shower because the shower was so gross. For around $250 I would’ve expected a little bit more. I know it’s Monterey and everything’s expensive but this was one of the worst hotels I’ve stayed in.

Also, they have us a room with three beds instead of two (making it sound like they upgraded us) then they asked us not to use the third bed… I thought that was strange. Why could we not use it? Are they just gonna trust that we didn’t use it and then not clean the sheets? Gross
