"Beautiful historical hotel, with comfortably modernised rooms. The architecture and level of preservation of original details in the lobby and hallways was wonderful. It was clean overall, but there was an unpleasant, funky smell coming out of the shower drain. I managed this by keeping the shower door closed, so it just went straight up into the vent. "We arrived at 4:30pm and the lady, Renee, at reception told us that we had enough time to make it to the complimentary wine tasting at Shadowfax. It was 5 minute walk. We completed check-in and walked quickly over to the wine tasting. We expected them to turn us down or act like they didn’t want to serve us. The gentleman who led the wine tasting was so accommodating and didn’t treat us like we were running in last second. For that, we did buy a bottle when we probably wouldn’t have otherwise....
