What we expected after reading the reviews. We needed a place to stay for two days of hiking and the pool was a bonus. The jacuzzi isn’t warm enough and most of the jets don’t work. Our room was old, a bit damp, extremely creaky noisy wobbly floor, especially in the bathroom. No bedside table on one side of the bed despite there being room. No wall mounted shower or curtain. We found it tricky to hang wet things without a shower or towel rail. The bed was very comfortable though and it was very quiet. Saying all that - the staff were lovely and the food was excellent. Pricey but it was worth it. It’s an old building and needs a lot of work which would be very expensive so I understand why it’s run down. It could be so much better. All in all we had a nice stay as the scenery and area was beautiful.

My partner and I had a fantastic stay here. The room was lovely and very warm and bed very comfortable. Breakfast was really good and very generous. We had a delicious meal in the restaurant one evening. Staff were all brilliant and extremely helpful. The swimming pool and hot tub were really nice, especially after a long hike. We felt it was extremely good value. Many thanks!

The bathroom The bath had a big chuck out of it and the shower attached to the bath taps was very loose the carpet was wet where the radiator was leaking and at dinner meal my steak was very fatty .

Excellent for the price. Full breakfast included. Pool and hot tub included. Free parking. It was very clean but a little worn around the edges and closer to the road than I would have thought but overall I'd definitely come back. Hot tub was great after hiking all day. Area is exceptionally beautiful. We liked the small town of Llandovery if you're looking for a cute place to eat. Staff was lovely. Bar and restaurant on site.

Our dinner at this hotel was very disappointing, and the room was tired and dirty. We wouldn’t recommend it and wouldn’t stay here again. The hotel and restaurant had received high ratings on Expedia and Trip Advisor, but both were a big letdown. We stayed with our one-year-old and initially had a family room, but we opted for a quieter room at the back. The staff were friendly and helpful, but that was where the positives ended. The room was basic and had questionable marks all over it. There were brown stains on the ironing board that wiped clean, but there were also marks on the curtains, lampshade, walls, and ceiling. The en-suite bathroom looked like it had been repaired by an amateur, with plaster and grout marks that were very visible. The sofa looked tired and dirty, and there were numerous dead spiders that hadn’t been cleaned or removed. Thankfully, the bedding was fresh and clean. The restaurant and dinner were also below average. Wetherspoons would have been a better quality and value option. The total cost for two mains and one side was £56, which would be reasonable if the meals had been of a decent standard. The full lemon sole cost £30 and was small. It came with a grilled half lemon and spicy butter, but the butter wasn’t evenly spread on the fish. The side serving of veg was overpriced at £4.50 and consisted of two stale asparagus stalks, two slices of courgette, and the rest of hard carrot batons. Property was spotlessly clean, great sized room, back of the property which was a necessity due to proximity of main road. Very pleasant gardens. Bar staff were very cheerful and helpful. Evening food was disappointing for the price point.

So took the wife away for a romantic weekend in an executive suite with Balcony. The room was in need of a little TLC. Cracked tiles and broken shower door which had been replaced with a shower curtain. There was a lack of bins in the suite with just one small one in the living area and none in the bedroom or bathroom. When we used the shower on Sunday morning we were unable to turn the temperature down. We reported it and the plumber arrived at around 10.00 just as we were going out for the day, when we arrived back at 5.00 to be told that the plumber had broken it and the water to the room had been turned off. We could stay and have a free meal but would have no working toilet etc. We obviously declined this and they did give a refund. At no point during the day did they bother to contact us to warn us. We ended up having a 3 hr drive home. With our first weekend away in tatters. Very poor customer service and no mention of compensation they even charged got the meal on Saturday. The food is good. Won’t be back or recommend it to anyone.

The value for money at this property is incredible - staff friendly, breakfast delicious and generous, rooms spacious, free access to gym and spa facilities, and an onsite restaurant and pub mean its very handy for food. I would definitely come back. However, the property is a bit run down, and the reception desk was abandoned most of the time - just go around to the pub and they'll help. Still exceptionally good value, and recommended.

Good location on the A470, near PenYFan. Spacious car park, great breakfast. Good spa for relaxing in, although some of the jets in the jacuzzi werent all working, needs looking at..!! Room was nice and cozy, TV, heater, shower was abit odd, it was not wall mounted, so couldnt have a shower, so had a bath. Friendly staff.

Great retreat but rooms need some urgent tlc!

Good points: Lovely garden to sit and relax in. Great base for local walks. Excellent service by the staff. Fantastic food. Quick service, looked and tasted amazing. Bad points: Couldnt find reception at first. Rooms are comfortable but are in dire need of refurbishment. Bath sealant and window leadges all black with mould. Furniture old, heavily stained and worn. Pool- Tiles missing and an actual hole in the pool floor.

The Nant Ddu lodge is perfectly located on the Cambrian way road trip. The front of house area is new and every staff member i met were fantastic. The room was very dated and the bathroom needed a refit. Everything was clean but the bath looked grubby because of its age. Food was fantastic.

The bathroom was very tired and needs attention. The bath has the enamel missing and very rough. The lodge over all is good and the food was excellent
