"Parking was free and very accessible for the hotel reception. We arrived a little early and decided to have a light lunch in the bar where we Adam the bar manager who was most welcoming and we enjoyed a local brew over lunch. Our room was very comfortable with lovely views over the river. We dined at the hotel and received excellent service from Eilidh and her team. The fish and shellfish on the menu was beautifully prepared and presented by the chef although the supporting wine list was somewhat limited and unspectacular Breakfast service was adequate with a rather plain buffet choice, but the cooked breakfast was again well cooked and presented, a credit to the chef. The hotel is set in a world heritage site and run by a charitable trust, so we were pleased to support a local business which clearly employs a cheerful and well trained staff."

"Quiet and restful nights of sleep despite being a motorway services- you couldnt hear any traffic noise at all from the hotel. Staff were very friendly. No breakfast pptions but part of motorway services complex, so amenities nearby for any basic needs. We were perfectly happy with our roomwith rehard to location, cleanliness, facilities etc but a few small issues as follows: No floor mat for the bathroom -only a slip mat for in the shower, so although you could use the shower mat in the shower there was nothing to stop the floor from being wet and slippery when you got out! No glasses only mugs for drinking (always find it handy to have glasses for the bathroom or for a drink of water if youve been using the mugs). Also on this occasion the mugs had a strange coating/taste of dishwasher soap/salt when we had our first drinks, so had to throw them away, wash up our mugs ourselves, and make ourselves a new round of drinks. These minor issues did not spoil.our stay or affect the quality of the accomodation and we would.happily stay again in this friendly hotel as it was a very convenient location for us to visit family When we asked for our room to be made up they cleaned the bathroom and replaced towels, toilet rolls etc but didn't make our bed or give clean mugs/spoons etc. This wasnt a big issue for us, but some might have liked a little more attention to detail. "The room was large, clean and comfortable, with a great view. The staff were lovely and helpful and the breakfast was really good. The hotel itself was nice but would benefit from a freshen up. Some of the decor needed touching up or redecoration."

"There were no disabled parking spots, only reserved ones for electric cars. I booked an executive room (112), and was surprised to note one of the windows looked onto the bin area and recycling, that has lights on most of the night and early morning noise. My bath had mould around the seals, and the bath plug had to be removed with a spoon, which dislodged more mould that floated in the bath. When I mentioned about changing my room before unpacking due to the view, there were no others available, and I mentioned the other comments at check out and nothing was said, just about the meal extras I had ordered and how I wanted to pay. For a 4 star I was disappointed"
