I recently stayed at this hotel, and unfortunately, it was far from the experience I expected based on the photos and descriptions online. While the room was decent in size, cleanliness was a major issue. The floors were dirty, with food remnants behind the couch and under the furniture, clearly indicating they hadn’t been swept properly. To make matters worse, I found dead bugs on the bathroom wall and under the sink, which was incredibly off-putting. It’s hard to take seriously a hotel that advertises itself as “sophisticated” and “upscale” when the reality is so far from that. The room had additional problems too. The closet didn’t even have a door, leaving the space feeling unfinished. It seemed like this property had been a rundown motel at some point and then half-heartedly renovated. The water smelled like sewer when showering, which was a huge issue. The TVs were small, outdated, and lacked smart features, and the limited channels offered didn’t help. Wi-Fi didn’t work at all, which was a huge inconvenience. On top of all that, there were no curtains, just broken shutters that didn’t block light or offer privacy. The walls were paper-thin, and I could hear everything from the people above me until 3 a.m. The service at the front desk was equally disappointing—rude, uninterested staff made the experience even worse. Overall, this hotel didn’t meet my expectations in any way. There are far better, genuinely upscale hotels at the same price or even less. I cannot recomme

Room was clean. Bathroom fixtures though are old. Breakfast needs improvement even if it's continental. Fresher fruits not over ripe bananas.

I am disappointed in the room cleanliness. The bedside table had potato chips in it from a previous person. The stairs were filthy. One sink in the bathroom had to run for ten minutes to get hot. There was no lotion in the dispenser and the shampoo had been watered down to almost complete water. The ceiling fan was squeaking so loudly I couldn't sleep with it on. The door to our floor had been taped so the security key was.pointless. When we arrived at our door it was not even closed. The Murphy bed had stains on it. For the price we paid for this hotel I expected better.

The room above when they took a shower water was leaking from the ceiling into our bathroom floor early 8am couldn’t go inside because there was water all over the bathroom floor couldn’t get to shower I all most fell down had to leave our room. There was no one there to clean up the mess we didn’t get another room they cleaned up late so we left the next morning early before someone took a shower above us they were no help at all about giving us another room never will go back paid so much money for them not to even give me another room

It was just okay… but I won’t be back. The staff was so rude !! All the ladies who worked the front desk were extremely rude. The elevator door shuts on you. Even if you put your arm in front of it, it starts to shut so when using the thing to wheel luggage in, it’s super scary. But my main reason for not going back is , I left at 7:30am the day of check out (check out is at 11am) I was back at 9:30am to pack our stuff up and check out. My key wouldn’t work. I tried several times over and over. I went downstairs and they for whatever reason deactivated my key. So I go back upstairs and right when I turn the corner to my room, I see staff coming out of my room in like a hurry . Like she opened the door and came out then shut it!! It just didn’t sit right with me. Check out is at 11. Why is my key card not working and staff in my room at 9am??

This is a nicer motel, which makes sense for the pricing. I was looking for a clean place to sleep at an affordable price. This place is definitely on the older side with no extra amenities. However, it is a clean place to stay. If you plan on staying here for more than sleeping, I would recommend a different place. Pros: -clean room -reasonable price -cute area (lots of trees) -simple continental breakfast (basic cereal and bagels) -working heater and air conditioner Cons: -there was free WiFi but it didn’t reach our room -our room smelled heavily of bleach/cleaning agents but was fine once aired out -no cellular service -the pillows were thin and the only “blanket” were sheets (this didn’t bother us since we brought our own pillows and blanket

Love this place! Clean room, quiet! Lovely!! Had a fireplace!!!. Love the amenities. Slippers , robes, plenty of towels. The breakfast was splendid! LOVED IT!

want to start by giving credit where it’s due: the hotel itself is very clean, and the bathroom in the executive room was honestly the highlight of my stay. It was modern, spacious, and very well maintained. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end for me. I booked an executive room expecting a more comfortable, upgraded experience, but the layout was extremely disappointing. The “living room” area felt awkwardly placed and completely disconnected from the rest of the room. It didn’t add value, and it definitely wasn’t worth paying extra for. I understand this might sound nit-picky, but for the price, I expected something that felt intentionally designed—not something that looked like unused extra space added as an afterthought. Another major issue was the lack of 24/7 staff in the lobby. I had an emergency with my key card suddenly stopping working, and instead of being able to walk downstairs and get help as you would in most hotels, I had to call someone to come reopen and reset it. It’s frustrating and concerning that a hotel wouldn’t have someone available at all times, especially for situations like this. But my biggest complaint, by far, was the bed. I don’t know who decided to use this cheap, flimsy metal frame to support the bed, but it was genuinely one of the worst sleeping experiences I’ve ever had. Our room was very clean and comfortable. We loved having a fireplace! We also selected this property because it had a heated pool, and a hot tub. We enjoyed both! It had a convenient location that was very close to all the things we wanted to do while we were in Monterey, and was directly across from a shopping center that had a grocery store, a coffee shop and a number of other fun businesses.

This hotel was pleasantly surprising and very charming! I was hesitant when booking because I saw mixed reviews however I had the best time and the hotel grounds are beautiful!! The patio furniture and pool set up are very nice, the room was basic and on the smaller side, but very clean! We didn’t come to Big Sur, just to sit in the room so in truth it was perfect for us! When we were at the hotel, we spend most of the time at the pool or lounging in one of the many patio sitting spots. I would absolutely stay here again! With the price and what you get for it, I’d be stupid not to. 😊

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing. From the start, the room was not properly cleaned — there was hair on the shampoo bottle and in the bathroom, which was very unpleasant. It was clear that housekeeping hadn’t done a thorough job. To make things worse, I was woken up by loud noise around 6 a.m., which went on for quite a while. It was impossible to get any rest, and when I mentioned it to the front desk, they didn’t seem particularly concerned. As if that wasn’t enough, I found a parking ticket in the room from a previous guest, which made me question how carefully the room had been checked before my arrival. Overall, the experience felt careless and unprofessional. For the price, I expected at least a clean and quiet room. I hope management takes feedback like this seriously and improves their standards, but for now, I wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it to others.
