This is an exceptional boutique hotel . Carolina and Mark are not only exceptionally welcoming hosts,they are a wealth of information about Montevideo and Uruguayan culture,food and wine . The property is beautiful and rooms are tastefully decorated The staff are very professional and friendly The restaurant is amazing offering original dishes with Anglo-Uruguayan flare. This hotel/restaurantis a must if you come to Montevideo We will definetely return

This is THE place to stay in Montevideo.
This B&B exceeded our expectations. Well appointed, beautiful garden where one could have breakfast and lounge. Personal touches everywhere. The highlight are the owners who are very welcoming, warm, helpful and generous. Everything was super clean. We stayed in the ALQUIMISTA Room. Very comfortable bed. High quality bed sheets, towels. Nice shower. We will happily stay there again when we come to Montevideo.

Súper recomendable
Una excelente estadía, no solo por la gran calidad de las instalaciones, también por el excelente trato recibido, tanto de los propietarios, Carolina y su marido, como todo el personal; Sofía especialmente. Nos gustó tanto que volveremos a la brevedad por allí.

Der gesamte Aufenthalt war einfach nur traumhaft. Das Zimmer war groß und sauber, das Frühstück sehr lecker und Carolina und Mark sind die besten Gastgeber, die man sich nur wünschen kann.

Spent 5 nights as part of a combined ‘Buenos Aires/Montevideo’ trip. Always look for small stylish hotels and the Alquimista is absolutely spot on. Beautiful 1920s building, lovely room, freshly-cooked breakfast, and just an all-round wonderful ‘feel’ staying here. The real highlight though was the welcoming hospitality and local advice from Carolina and Mark - do ask how to find Jueves 5 for a post-city-sightseeing drink if you want to sample an out-of-the-way bar which tourists rarely find. Also have bikes to borrow which is a great way to explore the city beyond the immediate centre and the coast as Montevideo is mainly flat and cyclist-friendly. I can’t see how anyone would not enjoy staying here and I recommend it highly.

Humbly great
Stands out as a rarity among boutique hotels for having genuine care for its standards and guests. Also the breakfast was delicious, as was the things I tried out on the lunch menu.

Ein Schloss!
Wir haben in dieser wunderbaren Villa einige Tage unter dem Dach zu viert gewohnt, es war einfach super! Wir wurden verwöhnt wie Gäste eines englischen Schlosses, der Tea um 5 ist ein Hit! Carolina, die Inhaberin, ist äusserst charmant, Ihre venezulanischen Mitarbeiterinnen - von Haus hoch gebildet - nicht weniger. Wären gerne länger geblieben.

Amazing boutique hotel which makes you feel home
This is a true hidden gem in Montevideo; nice small boutique hotel with just 6 rooms, managed by Caroline and her team which are very nice, helpfull and dedicated to make your stay great! Location was also perfect; walking distance from Carrasco beach and the mini-town center with all shops and restaurants you need. Amazing attention to detail in this small private space of heaven, we loved it!

Die familiäre Oase zur Erholung!
Wer die Ruhe in familärer Umgebung geniessen möchte, dem kann man Alquimista sehr empfehlen. Die Lage des Hotels ist in sehr ruhiger Gegend, dennoch gibt es in der Nähe Einkaufsmöglichkeiten, Restaurants und ganz nah Strand. Note: ausgezeichnet.
