"The room was disappointing. The pictures had been removed and repairs were not made to the walls. Paint drips on the floor of the bathroom. Parking was good but the highway noise level was not good. The coffee was bad."
"This motel was chosen because it is about a mile from the Luray Caverns entrance. The motel is two story, easy drive in, and easy to find. The facility is modern, well kept, and the room was clean and the bathroom facility is excellent. The heater worked fine, which was very helpful as it was cool when I arrived. The room was on the second floor, which was a walkup with safety stairs. But infirmed and older folks will have trouble unless I missed the elevator. There is a breakfast restaurant on the site, with great food, friendly service,
and reasonable price. If I came back I would definitely stay there. Not a great choice for travelers coming through a main road as it is about 20-30 minutes of main highways. But for Luray area visits it is perfect and affordable. No grounds no swimming pool, just very good sleep and morning eats."
"Clean, friendly staff, cozy feel, large tv, and overall a wonderful stay! Our only suggestion would be a fan in the bathroom since steam quickly builds. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay and I would recommend the Hillside Hotel. "
"*WARNING* employees come into your room without notice or warning. We checked in at close to 9pm Friday night and went about our day at about 8 am the next morning to view the sights. Upon arriving back we noticed things have been moved in our room and 1 wash rag along with one towel removed. Hotel services had came in to “clean” the room that we had spent less than 12 hours in. But left in the bathroom was towels on the floor and wash rags in the shower. This felt more like they came in to try and find a reason to potentially charge us more rather than actually clean especially considering the shower and tub were disgusting. They advertise a lobby with coffee and snacks only to find the vending machines completely empty and the “coffee” dispenser look as though it had stuff growing on it. The smells inside the lobby, at the check in counter, and the room were close to the smell of spoiled shrimp and bad body odor. I mentioned hotel services coming into our room without notice and didn’t even properly clean and was told “that’s just the way we do it here”. I made them aware there should be signs posted and notice made on the website people would be in the rooms after we left. Our privacy felt completely invaded. The desk clerk got very defensive and raised his voice stating “stays over 24 hours require hotel services to come into the room”. There may have been 5 cars max in the parking lot the entire time we were there they were not having a shortage of linens. NEVER AGAIN."
"The hotel looks beautiful on the outside. We checked into our room and the minute I opened the room door all I could smell was mold/mildew. The window was painted shut. I went down to the desk and asked for a room with a window that opened, they had one available. The exterior of the window was covered in black mold/mildew. But the room didn't smell horrible. There were no bath towels provided in the room. Which I hadn't noticed until the morning when I was ready to shower.
There was a nice "speakeasy" in the lowest floor of the hotel."
"The cabin was clean, the fridge was cold. The bathroom was updated. The patio chairs were comfy!
The food was unique and delicious! I highly recommend!!"
Holiday Inn Express Woodstock-Shenandoah Valley by IHG
6/10 Okay
"I would do more research the next time I am staying in the area. It was an ‘okay’ stay, the pool was not open(which was expected for this time of year), the gym only consisted of 3 machines & a yoga mat(which given the cleanliness of other places in the hotel I would not touch) the vending machines did not work. The chairs in the lobby were completely stained, I stood to eat instead. The breakfast was good, my kids had choices so that was a plus. There were spots in our bathroom that concerned me for mold factors. For a quick stay it would work, and without kids. Lesson learned."
"TV was not working for a while in the morning. Also seemed like some people were having a cookout in the back, on the same side my room was on, with a grill and hotel furniture outside. It was a bit off-putting."
