Not good start of holiday

I received email from manager that hotel is closed ( day before staying in hotel) due to some government issues and got directed to other hotel . Even though Chitra was helpful it wasn’t hotel I would chose and it added stress to my 32 hrs flight not knowing exactly where I’m staying .

Everything about the place was great. The only small disappointment was that there was no direct access to the beach. The manager/owner was extremely helpful and the breakfast very good too.

Excellent choice

The accommodation was excellent. We arrived early but were welcome to get changed, leave our bags, and gather information from the extremely helpful owners. Wonderful views along the beach from the reception area. Our rooms were a good size with small balcony, very well appointed, with tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms as well as in the shared lounge. Helpful staff to assist with requests, and to serve the fantastic breakfast. Continental and curries etc -everything freshly made and organic. Slightly difficult to find restaurants for the evening meal, but close to trains, and tuktuks always available.

An oasis in the middle of chaos!

We loved this hotel and were sorry to only spend one night here. Fantastic views over Colombo and right next to the railway station. Really welcoming and helpful manager.

Nice, but more of a hostel than hotel

Nice, but without most of the frills of a hotel, like room service, lunch or dinner service, bar, gym, pool, etc.

THOUGHTFUL OWNER & ATTENTIVE STAFF

My first stay at this apartment was August 2017 and this is my second stay. On my first stay, I was given a room on the 16th floor as there were only two of us. My second stay was at an exclusive apartment for 5 people. It was a cosy apartment which gave us the home feeling. Chitra was very considerate to give us this apartment considering that there were 5 of us without additional cost.. The breakfast is still as scrumptious as before. Staff were friendly and attentive. I prefer the room on the 16th floor due to its luxurious interior decoration and breakfast were served just outside the room. However, the room on the 10th floor gave us a lot of privacy which I am thankful for. It is always a pleasant stay at The Penthouse Above Sea.

Wonderful modern apartment, fab views

First time to Sri Lanka, although not in Colombo for long - this was a wonderful place to start and end our holiday. The staff are so warm and friendly, with a “nothing is too much trouble” attitude. The apartment itself is pretty awesome too. Light, airy, with modern interior and fabulous views of the city and ocean. The place was immaculately clean also. Breakfast was incredibly generous and very delicious, with traditional Sri Lankan dishes (the curries were just spot on!) to name but a few. In fact, there is nothing we could find fault with -apart from the fact we didn’t book long enough! Thank you guys for all your help and great recommendations of other sights to see in Sri Lanka. We will be back :)

Lovely hotel close to the beach

Absolutely fabulous

We could not fault our stay Everything was outstanding and the attention to detail impeccable. The hosts, Chitra and her husband, were second to none and went above and beyond. Big thanks go out to their efficient staff and excellent chef. Such delicious food.

Stylish apartment on the coast

Great staff, comfortable accommodation overlooking Colombo. Breakfast was excellent, taken on the balcony. Staff were really helpful when we had problems with our flight. The train station is nearby which was the quickest way to get to town. Just a warning it is 1.5 hours from the international airport due to the traffic. We walked up the beach to mount lavinia which is unfortunately pretty littered and run down.

Unforgettable stay

It's a perfect boutique hotel with very helpful and friendly staff. The owners, husband and wife, are very adorable people. If you have time to chat with them, please do. The hotel is completely new with comfortable rooms. The breakfast is delicious and different everyday with a choice of continental and Sri Lankan food. No insects or mosquitoes as you are on the 15th or 16th floor. We really enjoyed our stay here.

The entrance is hard to find, but worth the look.

The rooms were clean with new funrishings, and the owners are super friendly. The free breakfast is cooked each morning to include local dishes.

Great service and quality accommodation

Couldn't fault the cleanliness, service and quality offered. The owners and staff went out of their way to help us and the place is fantastic. A little out of central Colombo but an easy tuk tuk or train into town

Fantastic Hotel

We were travelling in India and my mother-in-law was flying out to Sri Lanka to meet us. She is rather elderly and not used to travelling on her own so we were anxious to find somewhere friendly and safe. We could not have done better than pick this hotel. They arranged for mother to be picked up from the airport and treated her so well in the two days before we arrived. The owners are very professional and have a wealth of hotel management between them. Everything is done well. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are immaculate and well furnished. There is a good sized pool on the roof which was a pleasure to use after a hot day visiting the sites in Colombo. Breakfast is buffet style but eggs to order are available. It was my birthday when i was there and they arranged a cake and even played Happy Birthday on the stereo that morning. They go that extra mile. We arranged our onward travel from Colombo to tour Sri Lanka through them and it has worked out really well. They sat down with us and worked out what we wanted and made suggestions to help out. This was our tenth hotel on our travels through India and Sri Lanka so it is not as if we have no experience. I would highly reccoment this hotel to anyone visiting Colombo. It is close to the sea and the city is easily reached by tuktuk or taxi. There is always hot water and the wifi is good.

入口が分かりにくかったですが、コンドミニアムの16階に受付があります。 部屋は15階にある4部屋のコンドミニアムを一部屋ずつシェアする形で各部屋のシャワー・トイレがあります。 部屋はプライベートも確保され快適で、清潔感が高かったです。 こちらのオーナー夫妻の温かいホスピタリティは5スターホテル以上で、それが最大のセールポイントでしょう。朝食のフィッシュカレーは今迄スリランカで食べてきた中でも最高のものの一つで日本人にも食べやすい辛さでした。 16階のバルコニーで海やコロンボの景色を眺めながら頂く朝食は更においしく感じました。 1階にスーパーがあり夜10時まで営業しているので、水やお土産を買うのにも便利です。 ただ、英語やコミニュケーションを取るのが苦手な方にはおすすめはできません。 殆どのゲストは欧米系の観光目的の方でした。

Trods booking med accept var der overbooket, så vi måtte forlade hotellet en dag før beregnet og ændre rejseplaner. Fint og rent hotel på 15. og 16. etage. Stranden meget snavset. Kedeligt lokalområde. Venligt personale.
