Lovely stay for the price
Lovely place to stay for the price, staff are excellent and very friendly and the room was comfortable enough for the price point with a good shower (temperature and water pressure), however, there was a smell of dog to the room (which we did not raise with the staff as the accommodation is pet friendly), and unfortunately due to the sensitive fire alarms we could do anything about this (aerosols would have set off the alarm). Bathroom had some mould around the shower door, and on the ceiling (painted over) due to the underpowered extractor fan and inability to naturally ventilate due to the sensitive fire alarm. Radiator was quite small to the size of the room, due to the cold weather it was pretty cold at times but extra duvets were available to us. Overall, it was a pleasant stay and we would stay again but you need to be accepting and aware of the price point, and the budget nature of the accommodation.

Good value for money with great service
Third time for me. Keep coming back because of the location, the friendly staff, the comfy rooms. They have done some upgrades this year with a bigger kitchen and better eating area. Love the Gem Rock Museum nearby.

Brilliant budget place to stay.
Place is immaculate. Manager very helpful and pleasant. Great budget room with en-suite. Plenty of parking at back next to entrance. Was very quiet apart from a large family that arrived and seemed to be up and down stairs for about an hour. Having said that total peace and quiet throughout the night. Had a great nights sleep. Would definitely stay again!

The gentleman at the front desk named Panny was very helpful. There are steep and circular stairs that Panny was willing to carry our luggage up and down. He also gave us a ride to the Gem and Rock museum (a hidden “gem” in a small town called Creetown, Scotland). He helped us locate the bus stop and what time the bus would be there and gave us a ride to the bus stop. Panny was very generous with his time and energy and much appreciated.

Great little place to stay. Staff were extremely helpful and the room was very clean. I stayed in a single room at the top back of the building lovely view up the hill. I think the bed could do with a bit better mattress as it was a bit lumpy but it wasn’t a real problem as I slept on top of the duvet with my own sheet and blanket. Everything is there to have a great stay. There is not much sound proofing between rooms so your enjoyment is very dependent on the consideration of other guests. I recommend taking ear plugs just in case

Friendly, lovely location shame about other guests
Lovely location overlooking the sea in a nice little village on the coast. Staff were really friendly and seemed to genuinely care about their accommodation and guests. There is a basic communal kitchen although I didn't really use this. The only downside of this place is the other guests! Not a fault of the owners (there are signs up everywhere about being quiet) and probably bad luck as to when you stay. But because of the nature of the place (communal kitchen facilities etc) people were just wandering about the halls slamming doors until gone midnight with children treating it as a playground. Owners were very clear about covid rules but needless to say many people don't care. Real shame and only downside to the stay here.

Good and I will return.
An idyllic setting. Great for walks in this rural area and quaint hamlet. Accommodation was comfortable and is a class one as far as hostel type accommodation is concerned.

Great location and value for money
Great location and value for money near Cairnryan for the boat. Room has a tv and ensuite with shower. I had two dogs with me who were welcomed and there is a nice walk if you turn right out of the accommodation. There is a shared kitchen, which is a bit difficult to use at the moment with current restrictions but overall a great place for the price

An amazing place to stay in a spectacular area
My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights. Our accommodation was modern, spotless and very comfortable. The staff go out of their way to make sure everyone has all the information they need at check-in. We have never stayed anywhere as accommodating as this and would certainly stay there again if we are in the area.

Great views, lovely location and friendly staff. The bed and shower were ok. Shared kitchen was very handy though it didn't have a hob to cook on, but had a microwave, slow cooker, toaster, fridge, and cutlery, plates and cups.

Good Accommodation
Jenny was super friendly and I could tell she cares about the place. She has added a few nice touches, like each room has its own name. The room had all the usual amenities but felt a bit sterile, however safety was clearly considered which I appreciated! We were on the top floor and had a great view. Getting in and checking out were super easy. It would be nice if there was a cooker available for self catering.

Arriving late, didn't have much time in Cree town but it is in beautiful surroundings. The accommodation was very clean and had every thing I required. Didn't get to meet any of the staff with leaving early next morning, but full instructions were left on how to gain access to the building and finding somewhere local to eat. Would definitely consider using again, excellent value for money.

Unusual but excellent accommodation
Barholm Accommodation is a converted pub which provides facilities which can best be described as an upmarket youth hostel. The rooms have two double bunks, so ideal for a small young family. There is an ensuite shower room. There are TV's in each room. Meals are not provided but there is a common room stocked with coffee, tea , milk etc and a supply of crockery and cutlery. The cleanliness is superb. The cost is very reasonable. One point to note. The address given by Expedia is 'Newton Stewart' In fact it is in the smaller town of Creetown. We drove to Newton Stewart, and had some problem finding the accommodation. Expedia please correct your literature.

There was everything we needed in the accommodation. Reception was closed when we arrived but there was a number to ring and the gentleman was with us in 2 minutes. He was very helpful showing us round and said we could ring him at any time if we needed him. There was a shortage of eating places in Creetown and we had to go to Newton Stewart which was about 5 miles away..

Hi Marilyn, thank you for your review much appreciated. Thankfully we now have the Lairds Inn here in Creetown offering wonderful food also the Ellangowan is also serving food from Wednesday through till Sunday - the Gem Rock Museum also serves food during the day. I appreciate that this was a problem, hopefully now this has been resolved.

somewhere just to have a quick stop over
We just needed somewhere to stay last minute to give myself a break from driving before proceeding with our journey. On arriving there was a note on the door for us with instructions of how to get in to our booked room and other information. When getting to our room I was very pleased as it was very clean, looked and smelt fresh, with 2 sets of bunk beds and a double bed, there was 4 of us plus a dog, We had never used a dog friendly place before so I was expecting a not so good room. The room had a private bathroom as well. There was a separate room with a telly in and fridge freezer, microwave toaster and kettle, tea, coffee, sugar and milk were supplied for guest ( this was a communal room for guest to use. ) When we went to bed the beds were the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in, with 2 fluffy pillows and very soft comfortable quilts. This place I would highly recommend for people wishing to have a quick break like ourselves or ideal for a base if on a cycling or walking holiday also the price was very cheep.
