"Room was clean and functional for what we needed … ground floor outside with patio looking onto a very nice garden good if you are limited on flexibility.. parked right outside our door"

"Fantastic stop over. Very interesting 18th century old coaching inn converted to Pub/Hotel. Nice outside area to have a few beers and bite to eat. Kitchen was closed when we arrived but our excellent host asked the chef to made us some toasted cheese sandwiches and fries, which we ate listening to some great nostalgic music blasting away from the outside speakers. Definitely have the the pork sausages in the morning. Locally made. Best I've every had!"

"We would highly recommend staying at The white lion inn. It provides all you could need and more. The inn had a very eclectic design and interesting furniture and pictures. 10/10 facilities in are room which made use feel very comfortable. We had a meal at the inn and it did not let use down highly recommended. Lovely garden at the back for sitting out in when weather is warm. We would definitely stay again."

Best Western Shaftesbury The Royal Chase Hotel

6/10 Okay

"Really dated and tierd but staff making best of what they have. We visited in a heatwave so perhaps not a true reflection but was stifling. No air con. A small broken (span but didnt move side to side)fan provided that pushed the warm air around and the next morning fans had been put in the corridor. Reception staff friendly and welcoming. Breakfast staff a bit abrupt but again perhaps the heat! We booked for a short stay and the surrounding countryside and shaftesbury Town are lovely. The hotel is situated on the main road although still quiet and lovely garden etc. Gpod location for the town etc Unfortunately the pool area is not nice. Changing rooms really dirty and the pool water really cloudy and murky- the main reason we chose the hotel was for the pool. All in all was fine for an overnight stay and room was clean. Just a bit old fashioned and dated for us and the pool area need some attention"
