"The room was fine but as we went on the hottest day of the year it was like an oven. We were provided with a large fan though. Other than that it was a lovely building and the staff were great."

"The mattress was from the 1800's, and as a senior the lazy sods never offered to carry my bag up the creeky stairs. No effort was made to upgrade the property to even the 1950's. Never replaced my coffee or cream."

"Whatever structural deficiencies the physical building may have, and there were a few, the warm, welcoming atmosphere created by hosts Jamie and Rob more than made up for it. The Horseshoe Inn is the type of place where you are immediately treated as family, and you don't want to leave at the end of your stay because you're afraid no one else would do it any better. Jamie and Rob do everything, from preparing and cooking all their menu items from scratch, chatting up their regular pub...

"Likes= Central to everything...good breakfast at Crown Hotel (part of b&b arrangement)...lovely big bed...very pleasant n clean room overlooking eclectic high street.......,...........Mentions = X2 steps in bathroom, we kept tripping on ( suggest edge of step to toilet be of a different colour/material to floor of toilet, so more visible), also ceiling to toilet very low hitting head twice ( again suggest a spongy or softer material be attached , so impact not as hard if forget to duck)...if...

"I was checked into a disability room, which although OK is designed for wheelchair users. The sink was low and had no plug in it, so shaving was hard. The room was hot, and although there wasa fan, the window opened fully and wasn't safe to leave open overnight due to it being on the ground floor. The radiator front panel was falling off and the room had no desk/table to use for eating or work. Whilst I appreciate this is a budget hotel, simple things like a plug and mending a broken radiator...

"We would not have booked here if we had known the Saturday breakfast was 9am to 10am. There is no information about breakfast times on the booking process. The TV was totally unusable as I do not have a modern PhD. I simply could not understand all this internet stuff. The Wifi speed was slow, less than 1mbps. Besides that, clean comfortable room, excellent real beer in the bar."

"Clean rooms but the bathroom was miniscule. The accommodation is on a very busy road without a safe place to cross. No parking on site. Check in time was very late in the afternoon which was inconvenient. Overall poor value."
