"If you are traveling to Southold, this is a very good choice. The property is nice and the staff extremely friendly. The room is satisfactory but I could not believe how strong it smelled of either air freshener or a febreeze type odor. I had a horrible headache the first night. Left windows and screen door open for the first 24 hours. Regardless, once the room properly aired out, everything else was fine."

There was a noticeable layer of dust on the tables, coffee machine, and even the glasses, which gave the impression that the room had not been thoroughly cleaned before my stay. While the hotel has some positive aspects, housekeeping standards need improvement."

"We liked the property and enjoyed our stay! Great location, helpful staff, and very clean. The room and bathroom have been renovated nicely. Because the property is converted from an old house so the room was smallish, and we were on the third floor so there are stairs to climb, which may be an issue for some folks."

"The Penny Lane was an excellent place to stay if you are visiting Hampton Bays or surrounding area. Rooms are great. Bed was incredibly comfortable. Staff was excellent."
