I rarely leave negative reviews, but after giving Hilton multiple opportunities over several months to address this matter privately, I feel it is important to share my experience.
During my stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton Sarasota Bradenton Airport over the Thanksgiving holiday, I experienced an extremely troubling interaction with the on-site manager. When I attempted to provide calm feedback during checkout regarding a racially insensitive assumption made during check-in, the manager responded by raising his voice, speaking over me, and escalating the situation in front of staff and guests. At one point he shouted, “I am raising my voice, and I will raise my voice,” and stated, “Yes, get me fired. My name is David Alexander. Get in line.”
The situation became even more concerning when, after I briefly stepped away to retrieve my car for my elderly mother who has dementia, the manager approached my mother and my 19-year-old daughter directly in my absence to discuss the issue. Neither of them should have been placed in that position.
I reported the incident to Hilton Corporate the same day. What followed has been months of delays and deflection. Corporate initially stated the hotel would handle it, then later referred me to the property ownership representative. Despite following those instructions and reaching out again, I have received no response.
What is most disappointing is not only the original incident but the complete lack of accountability or meaningful foll"
