"We had a fantastic time here. Our host greeted us upon arrival and asked if we would like to participate in an authentic tea ceremony. We got dressed in provided outfits, and the kids loved making matcha tea with the host. We loved the two levels, the indoor and outdoor baths, and the washing machine (kids use up a lot of clothes). "It was our family’s first time staying at a machiya. It was an easy place to find upon arrival in Kyoto. The house was lovely. The tea ceremony at check-in along with the Japanese sweets were much appreciated. They were able to help us arrange for delivery of our luggage onwards to our next city. "This was the best stay in my current Japan trip with my family and friends! With a group of 7, the space never felt small and had everything we needed for our stay. Close to attractions and restaurants. The morning breakfasts and home stay in omakase were fantastic and delicious. Also, the in house baths were beautiful and amazing. "

"Alles war perfekt, es ist ein wunderschönes traditionell japanisches Haus aber keines wegs altmodisch, im gegenteil sehr Modern, jeder Raum ist Klimatisiert und alle ist gut durchdacht. Einziger Negativpunkt ist der Check in, wir standen 20 Minuten vor der verschlossenen Tür weil wir den Code nicht bekommen haben und dann musste die Kyoto steuer erst noch bezahlt werden."

"It's a nice place to experience the traditional Japanese living house. It's good to have 3 sizable beds for 3 persons. The room is clean and quite spacious. Shopping areas, good restaurants, convenience store and metro station can be found in a few minutes walking distance from the house. "

"This charming inn is an excellent accommodation for families. With two bedrooms, our family of five enjoyed a comfortable and spacious stay. The only minor inconvenience was the lack of a second-floor bathroom, which meant we needed to descend to the ground floor each time we required restroom facilities. Despite this small drawback, the inn was otherwise exceptional and met all our needs perfectly."

"Wonderful place to stay, we loved that the area was in a real neighborhood and not touristy. The only complaint is the main bedroom faces a an alley that has a motion activated light that shines bright on and off all night while you are trying to sleep. Dark shade would help this situation. "

"If one is looking for a western-style hotel, this is the wrong place. On the other hand, if one is looking for living (mostly) like a Japanese family would, in a real Japanese neighborhood, then you are looking at the right place. This place is 100% Japanese except that it has 2 full-size western beds, which is not common. And, it has a modern Japanese toilet (heated seat, ETC.) which, I'm guessing, is not too common in 'normal' homes due to their expense. The two 'issues' for us were:...

"Pretty good with Onsen facility, lots of freebies such as drinks, free ramen and location is also great with convenience stores and food options very close to the hotel. They also have treadmills which is important for me. Only drawback, the hotel seems to get many tour groups. So the lobby can be very hectic and the Onsen is super overcrowded. They only have one laundry facility as well with 2 machines so competition is fierce to use them. Not ideal "
