"Was under construction, which meant the restaurant hours were effected by this and also in room dining. Not a luxury experience at all having to pay a resort fee seemed totally unnecessary I’d say considering. Won’t be giving this property another try which is a same as it’s a very historic Portland location but under new ownership and has lost all of its magic. "

"This property was exceptional, and the staff was incredibly helpful. They even accommodated me by allowing me to stay an extra day. I’ll definitely consider staying at Mark Spencer whenever I return to Portland. "

"Very enjoyable stay at the Benson. Staff was super friendly, and the room was comfortable, well appointed, and clean. My only "negative" is that the disabled friendly (no steps) entrance was almost always locked from the outside, even during the day. This was a minor inconvenience for me, as I am mostly mobile, but would have been a major one were I in a wheelchair. Otherwise, it is a fabulous hotel and I would absolutely stay again!"

"Better than I could have imagined! Just a lovely spacious suite like apartments. I loved the local charm and that it was literally right next to the light rail. Yes, you could hear the train, but it was not that noisy and actually quite quaint. I love sitting out outside and drinking coffee watching the light rail train go by every 10 to 15 minutes in the morning. It made my stay so delightful to be able to just leave my car at the hotel and take light rail to Powells bookstore. Despite...

"Welcoming staff and nice location. But the property is very old and the rooms have a very upcycled, refurbished vibe. For a pricey hotel, I would have expected a bit nicer. Location is pretty, cool boardwalk with shops. But the noise from traffic, boats, and trains begins around 6 am and is impossible to sleep through. Valet only parking is also kind of cumbersome. Overall a decent stay. "

"Awesome staff, clean and modern rooms. The location is great. Only critique is that the windows seem thin as even on the 8th floor the sounds from outside were noticeable (cars, max, people). Would not recommend for light sleepers. "

"Rooms are decent but you can hear every time a door closes in another room. The toilet is very low and the lids have to be closed before you can flush and they slam each time. The restaurant is closed at night and there are very few nearby options. The checkin area is right by the sliding doors so staff have to use a space heater to keep warm. Overall I would not stay here for “pleasure “ again. "

"The room was small but perfect for a quick one night stay in town. It was clean, and despite other reviews about it being noisy it was pretty quiet. We did use the noise machine and that helped drown out anything. We just parked around the corner at a parking garage overnight for $14. It was $62 for valet and the staff said the lot behind was not patrolled so we opted for the garage. No issues! "
