The place was a little old and needed some renovation but it was extremely comfortable and very clean. The manager was above and beyond in making sure we were comfortable. We’d stay there again

Somewhat of a bait and switch. Booking site confusing as to which property you were booking at. Outside and grounds not maintained, however our room had been recently remodeled and was extremely clean.

A lovely stay at this Motel. Good price!Room was very clean and modern. Comfortable beds, good shower, very quiet and very clean. Nice to have a small kitchenette with toaster, coffee maker, microwave, small fridge, sink and some dishes. We quite enjoyed our stay!

When I booked Dolen’s Inn and Suites I thought it was an Inn, not an old weathered motel with a blue metal roof. The pictures I saw were not of where we ended up. It was clean enough but certainly not what I thought we were getting. It worked for the night.

This accommodation was advertised as the Dolan Inn & Suites at 168 W River Rd with a photo of a charming two-storey house painted yellow with a white balcony. There is no building matching this description at this address. Instead we were given a room at Dolan’s Motel (132 W River Rd) a few doors down. As we arrived late at midnight in a storm, it was a scary experience to try to figure out why there was no one at the address on the reservation. The motel manager was not at the motel and just left a key in the door to our unit (not in a lock box) so anyone could have entered the room before our arrival. The Expedia listing clearly pictured the Inn & Suites building but there is a run down empty house at the listed address. The motel was definitely not worth the rate charged (photo attached). This felt like a bait and switch and we will be requesting a refund from Expedia. We do not recommend booking with any Dolan property.

We especially liked the ceramic flooring. ( rugs never feel clean). The kitchen unit in a motel was a plus and the bathroom updated. What else, the beds comfy and decor pleasant. We liked being close to town and local beaches. No nonsense. Says my son , well set up! Thank you . H Coulombe Ottawa

We are familiar with the town of Pictou and love visiting there but when we arrived, we expected to be staying at an inn with suites (which is what Expedia stated) but it was actually a motel. Apparently four or five accommodation properties in Pictou are under the business heading Dolan’s Inn and Suites, which was confusing and caused us to question. The other properties appeared updated, at least from the outside, but our initial reaction as we arrived at the motel was that it needed quite a bit of TLC! The parking lot is unpaved and unkept, the motel sign at the entrance was faded and sitting among weeds which should have been flowers in the box and S ome of the railings, especially getting to the office, were unpainted and even showing signs of rot. The lady who welcomed us was lovely and friendly, but appeared to have a lot on her plate. We checked our room for cleanliness…it smelled fresh, and the linen/beds were nicely made and comfortable. In all fairness, it was quite evident that efforts were/are ongoing to modernize the rooms (which we think is a work in progress). There was lots of hot water for showers, seating room around a little table (but the patio chairs had seen better days), and there was a bar fridge in a small kitchen area that supplied dishes, utensils, toaster, kettle, etc. We would have enjoyed a morning coffee but although there was a coffee maker, there wasn’t complimentary coffee, coffee mate, or sugar to go with it. The stay was just ok!

The size of the room was fine. Good size fridge. too. However: The pillows on the sofa bed felt moist. The WiFi didn’t work at all! The bed was lumpy and the shower was not clean (and old band-aid and mildew) The best thing was that we could park right outside the door.

Check in was fine. There was a note on the door with a number to call and the person came very quickly to get us a key. The room was quite clean however there were 2 huge spiders and an earwig as soon as we went in the bathroom and a few more creatures this morning. The beds were comfortable though. It was quite overpriced in our opinion but with limited hotels there wasn't many options.
