The staffs are very nice, very friendly, the live like family, I feel very welcome
This is not a house but an crawl/attic place that I would not even put my dog to sleep in it and that's what I was offer to stay last night. There is no checking in place. I was told to go up in a crawl space on top of a balcony....a mattress on the floor of that crawl space. The area that they call the bathroom area was so dirty... I could not bare myself to enter to brush my teeth.
. I sat on a chair for the night(it was late when I arrive there or else I would have left to sleep somewhere else but could leave because of safety reason ) and this morning I left at 6am and the owner did not greet me but drove way in his car. He did not bother ask how was my night because I did not have night.
This is the worst place I have ever been in my life and this place should NOT be online as "star house or guesthouse" because is simple NOT. This expedia listing should be taken down immediately beacuse of false advertising so nobody make the mistake of booking this filthy crawl space.
I book this place just for one night before my flight back to the US
based on the last review which I thought would be okay for one night...what a big mistake and a nightmare. Believe me...I barely take time to write review but this place is so horrible so I decide to let others know not to come here. No wonder it was that cheap:$20/night( I thought it was cheap because they might be new to expedia but I was wrong. KEEP AWAY FROM THIS PLACE FOR YOUR OWN GOOD
I've been the first time to the Port-au-Prince area, but the tenth time to Haiti.
The area of the hotels is beautiful and safe and more or less quiet. The staff are lovely and welcoming. Everything was clean and in proper condition. While we were there, there was some noise during the day due to construction work, but this is just a temporary issue.
The hotel is located just a kilometer or so in the hills over Delmas 83, in a "posh" area. It's pretty steep to walk up there from the main street, and the roads are not very even, so especially during the day in hot sunshine this might not be everybody's taste, but you might get a motorbike taxi or a car to bring you up and down. For me, a 56 old man, and my colleague, who is about 10 years older, it wasn't a problem to walk this, as we're in a good condition. But mind this if you're handicapped about walking.
Delmas is a great city to explore, with friendly people. From the main street you get easily and very cheap downtown to "Centre Ville" (the city center), or to Pétionville in the other direction.
I consider the hotel as a good place to stay for slightly adventurous people. We didn't find Delmas and not even the very poor areas of Port-au-Prince as dangerous. Before our travel we were warned not to go for security reasons, but this is nonsense! We walked around even with DSLR cameras, and had no problems at all.
I strongly recommend the cities of Port-au-Prince and Delmas and the hotel. It has been a very interesting trip.
