We arrived at the hotel on foot while walking the South West Coast Path and couldn’t have asked for a better stop along the way. After a long day on the trail, we received a really friendly welcome and immediately felt at home. The room had everything we needed for a comfortable and restful night and we both slept incredibly well listening to the sea nearby. One of the highlights was an early morning swim in the sea before breakfast. The perfect way to start another day on the coast path. We then enjoyed one of the most wonderful breakfasts of our trip. A peaceful, welcoming place in a beautiful location and exactly what you hope to find when travelling the coast path on foot. We’d happily stay again.

Lovely historic hotel in an absolutely stunning coastal setting. Close to walks and the village of Port Isaac. You must like hills. The views are breathtaking. The hotel is part of an excellent local restaurant and a well-loved and cozy pub. We found the staff very friendly and helpful from start to finish. Breakfasts were opulent, and the quality of the food at night equally high. The building's historic character means that tall people should watch their heads on occasion, and the rooms are not always large, but they do try to provide an excellent bathroom and some electrical outlets. This is not a place for people who expect faceless modern conveniences. But if you like lovely casement windows and a warm atmosphere, definitely the tops.

Marvellous old inn with a beautiful setting. Lovely, comfortable room with excellent amenities. Delicious breakfast included. Very short walk into Port Isaac. Highly recommend!

I was told there was no hotel parking, only street spaces or in Port Isaac—a ten-minute walk away. Luckily, we parked nearby, but later found there was poorly signposted hotel parking with just eight spaces. Better communication would have helped. Parking in Port Isaac is pay and display, up a steep hill, so dropping off luggage first is wise. Reception was small and busy; we waited several minutes to be checked in, though the staff member was pleasant. Our room was spacious and well arranged, but lacked a separate shower. The bath had high sides, making access awkward, and heating was unreliable—often not working despite staff resets. Housekeeping was poor: only one cleaner for fifteen rooms. Our room was never properly cleaned, with towels unchanged after three nights until we requested replacements. The bed wasn’t remade, and daily cleaning was lacking. Breakfast was the highlight, served by a caring staff member who remembered our preferences and was both prompt and friendly. Breakfast quality varied. Apart from the breakfast staff, attention to detail was missing. Dining in the restaurant without a reservation felt inconvenient for staff, though tables were available. The food was acceptable but overpriced; the mussels were overcooked and portions small. Generally, other staff were rushed and unhelpful, making us feel in the way. The team seemed to prioritise restaurant and bar guests over hotel residents. We won't be staying again, and wouldn't recommend it.

This was our favorite place to stay in the UK so far. The room was spacious and clean, and the included breakfast excellent. The pub offered drink and food specials that helped us stay in budget- and were of excellent quality. The location is easily walkable to Port Issac and local walking trails. We highly recommend the Port Gaverne!

Breakfast was nice and there were vegan options though the one person serving seemed stressed as she was so busy. Evening meal was good and had vegan options for all courses. Staff were friendly and helpful. The carpet in my bedroom was the only disappointment as it needs replacing. Otherwise the room was spotless and the bedding fresh & comfortable.

We had the most amazing stay at Port Gaverne. From the moment we arrived, the staff worked so incredibly hard and made everything feel special. Every single person was warm, welcoming and went above and beyond. The location is simply breathtaking. Set in such a beautiful and peaceful place, it feels like something out of another world. Waking up to the sea and the stunning surroundings is something I will never forget. Port Gaverne is more than just somewhere to stay. It is a place that has touched my heart and will now and always be a part of my soul. Thank you for such a truly unforgettable experience.

Pub / hotel was really nice, room was good we were up in the eaves so had to watch your head a bit… good value for money. We had some bad weather in the form of wind and a bit of rain but was still nice venturing out to the headland for a walk. Breakfast was good is lovely to see a decent pub doing well..

The hotel was immaculate and the staff were amazing. Would highly recommend this as a must to visit or stay when visiting Cornwall. The views were spectacular and the beach was clean and tidy. The restaurant was a real treat with amazing cuisine from the breakfast through to the fine dining experience in the evening. The accommodation was superb and definitely value for money.

Staff & hotel were lovely hotel was very clean and food was good the sea view was stunning my husband said the real ale was excellent to, weather wasnt on our side so didnt explore as much as we would have like round the area but went in to Padstow which wasnt to far & was a nice drive out & a great little village 😀

We were there in January so it was very quiet. The staff was excellent, the food was great. Our room was a bit small, but well equipped and clean. the bathroom was sizable with a great shower. There are great walks along the ocean right from the hotel's front door. Highly recommended!

Absolutely nothing wrong with the Hotel. Brilliant . 5 Star. Unfortunately, Hotels. Com only charged for one person to have breakfast during our stay, so as soon as we arrived i had to pay a further £42 for my wife's 3 breakdasts. I alco had already paid About £45 in taxes and Fees to Hotels.Com, which i would have not incurred if i had booked directly with the hotel. So lesson learnt. About £90 out of pocket due to Hotels.com more than required. However as i said the Hotel was terrific .

Breakfast was sooo yummy, with both a full english breakfast as well as a breakfast buffet table. There was some issues with the booking itself, so that was annoying. Apparently some comms issues between Expedia and the hotel. But everything else was great.
