"This place was mostly excellent.
It’s a good location. Walkable for Foggy Bottom and Georgetown.
The staff was accommodating.
The room was spacious and comfortable, with separate areas to lounge, work, and sleep. The housekeeping was notably good. They not only replaced the linens and made up the bed, but generally made the place more orderly (folded my clothes, arranged my toiletries). I felt like my housekeeper back home had come by.
The pool was beautiful. I went for a swim every morning. There was only one or two other people there swimming laps, so plenty of room. I didn’t check out the steam or sauna. Just wasn’t in the mood, but would do so in the future. The hot tub was right next to the pool and also looked really nice though I didn’t get in. Unlike a lot of places, the pool/sauna/hot tub/steam was next to the official spa, not in it. So all guests were welcome to use these facilities without an appointment.
The only real drawback was the food. Both the restaurant and the bar were ridiculously expensive. $50 for two eggs, melon and toast. $100 for appetizer flatbread and two drinks. There are plenty of good places to eat within walking distance. But disappointing that the premium for wanting to have breakfast at the hotel before setting out for the day is so high. I also just didn’t think much of the bar. The drink wasn’t good and the music was way too loud given that it was not live and there was no dance floor or anything."
