The Dorset Golf Hotel

"Great rural location (i am not a golfer), really nice room, clean and comfortable and reasonably stylish. Only let downs were; paper thin walls so could hear quiet conversations in the adjacent rooms, and a noisy shower (neighbour showered at 1am!). it was a heatwave; room fans were provided but it would have been good to fully ventilate the rooms. Due to work commitments i had to leave before breakfast so can't comment on that."

"The room was spotlessly clean beautiful comfy bed and good pillows The staff were all very helpful The beach view out the back was stunning could of sat there all day with comfortable chairs and tables also inside could still have views of the sea was so lovely Thank you for a wonderful stay"

"Room was very clean. The bar and toilets, not very clean along walls and woodwork. The staff were lovely and very accomodating where they could be. Only one thing spoilt the trip. I had paid for breakfast, which it stated on Hotels.com would be served from 8am to 9.30. One of us had to be at work for 9 am, when we arrived we were told breakfast was 8.30-9.30 and they could give us a breakfast roll earlier, everything was locked up until 8.30 when he had to leave for work. This was annoying as we had specifically booked this hotel so that we could have breakfast and had paid for breakfast. Very annoying. The food is lovely but expensive."

"We were welcomed on arrival and shown to our room. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We had a meal in the restaurant on our first night. The food was beautifully cooked. The portions were generous. We were served by Connor who was very enthusiastic and attentive. The bar served a wide choice of drinks. There was a good choice at breakfast with generous portions and the food was well presented and nicely cooked. There was unlimited tea, coffee and toast. Overall we had a very enjoyable stay. We would highly recommend and would be happy to return."

"A very quirky, interesting, historical Hotel a short stroll from all the amenities that Swanage have to offer. Friendly helpful staff from start to finish, all very knowledgeable regarding the history of the hotel. It’s obviously like the forth bridge regarding the upkeep and maintenance, but that’s expected with an old building,it adds to its charm. All areas were clean and tidy. We stayed in The Louisa Lodge accommodation, slightly away from the main house, we had a Sea view across the rooftops, the room and en-suite had everything you needed and clean. Breakfast was more than adequate not everyone wants cooked breakfast every day, it was pretty much what I would normally have for breakfast at home, if you feel the need for a full English plenty of places a very short stroll away. Great parking facilities on site. Spoke to several other guests who were returning visitors. As a couple who doesn’t mind not having all singing all dancing modern facilities I'm sure we will be returning."

Belhuish Farmhouse

"Rod was a great host. The location of this B&B was excellent for our needs and I loved being among farmland. We can see and hear the sheep graze beside us. I'd stay here again if I travelled back to the area. My only challenge was that there is no air conditioning, nor did we have any fans to help us keep cool during a heat wave. It was difficult to get any sleep due to the temperature. These old houses are not built to ventilate so even if it gets cool at night, the room stayed hot."

"This is a wonderful place to spend a day or two if you are looking for a characterful and charming hotel. It has comfortable facilities, is family and dog friendly and is in a fantastic location. Our room had a gorgeous sea view from a large picture window and was lovely and spacious. Staff are friendly and approachable and do their very best to assist with any queries or issues. Knoll House smacks of 1940's nostalgia, with a relaxing ambiance but could use a touch of TLC. Just a few bits and bobs require attention as a little tired in places; a few mod cons such as air conditioning and integrated charging points would be great, but nothing that would be a game changer for us. Also more Plant Based hot buffet options such as sausages, hash browns and tofu scramble as standard would be nice. We had an enjoyable stay nonetheless and we would definitely stay again. We have no hesitation in recommending it to others."

"Room was spacious, great shower. However the room we were in (an upgraded room) was over the kitchen and every morning at 7am something started up and all we could hear was the hum of it which is annoying when you would like a lie in. We ate both nights in the pub. The food is good but very pricey. On our 2nd night we both had a special which was gammon, 1egg, chips, pinapple and piccalily. I pointed out that it said two eggs but we only got one each. The waiter was apologetic but just said it hadnt been passed to the chef but now he knew everyone else would get 2 eggs! I would have expected to have a small reduction in price or something complimentary (soft drink or coffee) as an apology but nothing was offered. Also they added on a service charge on both nights which i wasnt impressed with. It should be up to the diner to decide if service is worth a tip."
