Villa Nicolas was a great experience. The wildlife we saw off our balcony was worth the stay alone. Beds were very comfortable and it was nice to have a large refrigerator and a sitting area was great to have. Around alot of restaurants.

The staff were excellent, friendly, knowledgable and attentive. The rooms were clean and beautiful. The views from the balcony were private and simply gorgeous. We had a perfect place to relax, unwind and just be. Exactly what I was looking for. The pool was lovely and the breakfast was great.

We had a beautiful view of the ocean over the top of the trees. Our veranda fell like it was in the middle of the jungle. We had almost as much wildlife all around us as we saw national Park tour. Three different species of monkeys, other small mammals and more birds than we could count. We got great pictures of Scarlett, macaws, hummingbirds, parrots, and many other. Felt like we were in a treehouse in the middle of the jungle. Staff was wonderful and courteous. Enjoyed our stay very much and would definitely stay there again!

Denis and his staff are just the best, this is our second stay at the property. Wouldn’t consider going anywhere else in Quepos. Thank you for another unforgettable experience.

The breakfast was served at an open air bar near the pool. You had two choices, standard Costa Rica breakfast or pancakes. Both were served with delicious fresh fruit. The service was great. The hotel is fairly small, has a beautiful view and lots of wildlife on site. Tgere was a macaw nest right outside our patio.

Warm and welcoming greeting from Dennis set the tone. Rooms were very private with great views. Not a lot of amenities on-site, but that's what we wanted. Location is ideal and walkable to everything. If you're looking for a quiet retreat where you can park the car and park yourself to enjoy the best of Quepos, Villas Nicolas is a great option.

We had a wonderful stay at this villa. The location was perfect, just steps from public transportation and close to great eating spots. We even spotted monkeys and sloths right from our balcony! The villa was clean with a cozy rainforest feel and breakfast was delicious each morning. Denis, the property manager was incredibly friendly and helpful. We also loved the cats and dogs on the property. Highly recommend!

I stayed at Villas Nicolás in Manuel Antonio for four nights and had a great experience. I really appreciated the warm and attentive service from Dennis, the hotel manager, and Paola at the front desk. The woman who works the breakfast service and the man who cooks were also incredibly kind and welcoming — everyone made my stay feel special. The location is fantastic: just a short drive to the beach with plenty of good restaurants nearby. My balcony had beautiful views, and I loved seeing monkeys and macaws visit every morning. The hotel itself could benefit from a renovation, but overall it was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was tasty, and I genuinely enjoyed my time here. I would definitely consider staying again.

Very nice villas, we got the king bed with ocean view. The room was very clean, large balcony with hamac, kitchenette if you want to cook, and living room area. It took about 35 min to walk down to the beach, but you can also take the bus or Uber if you prefer. Area is not very walkable, there's not always a sidewalk, but if you're careful for cars it was fine to walk around to go to the beach or restaurants

Lovely self-contained apartments. Dennys and his team were very friendly, helpful and approachable. We had booked a superior villa, but on arrival we were informed that that room was not available due to essential maintenance, so were given two villas, which suited us and our adult daughter better, giving us all more space to relax. Each villa had a great balcony with comfortable seating and a hammock, great for chilling out at the end of the day. The villas have a great sea view with lovely well tended gardens. We are visited by capachins, squirrel monkeys, and there were even what felt like resident Scarlet Macaws, perching in a dead palm tree by the pool. Sadly no sloths, I guess because of the sound of the maintenance work ongoing (as we stayed before peak season). The pool was very clean and nice to have a gentle swim after a long day sightseeing. The breakfast was basic, but very tasty and prepared fresh for you each morning. We had a very relaxing stay, and would highly recommend Villas Nicolas. Thank you Dennys and team xx

Tolle Lage, super ruhiges Zimmer und sehr netter Gastgeber. Zu Fuß sind Geschäfte und Restaurants super zu erreichen, man muss nur beachten, dass direkt am Hotel und somit auch am schönen Pool die Hauptstraße vorbei führt, was sehr laut war. Aber unser kleines Häuschen war weit genug entfernt und wir haben dort die Stille genießen können und hatten einen herrlichen Ausblick auf unserer großen Terrasse ins Grüne. Unser Gastgeber war super herzlich und hilfsbereit, absolut freundlich. Das Frühstück hatte uns erst nicht zufrieden gestellt, da sehr einfach und nicht sehr reichhaltig, aber nach fast 3 Wochen Rundreise haben wir gemerkt, dass dies die Regel war. GalloPinto und ein wenig Ei und 2 halbe Toasts, das war wirklich überall alles, die gewohnte Auswahl oder Reichlichkeit gibt’s in Costa Rica fast nirgends. Am Ende konnten wir sagen, dass von 5 Hotels auf unserer Rundreise dieses am schönsten war! Danke nochmals, wir würden wieder kommen, obgleich der Preis recht hoch war.

Avoid, Avoid, Avoid!

We stayed at Hotel Nicolás and had one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve ever had. Breakfast was advertised as a “typical Tico breakfast” (gallo pinto, eggs, cheese, natilla, fruit, plantains, tortillas). In reality, it was just gallo pinto, eggs, tortillas, and fruit—we had to supplement daily. Their salt and pepper shakers even had spiders inside. The man at check-in reeks of smoke, acts polite, but provides zero customer service. Guests aren’t allowed to use the pool unless staying overnight. I asked to pay a fee or add my friend to our room (capacity is 3, we were only 2) but was told it’s “impossible” to adjust reservations after booking. Rooms don’t match the website photos—quality varies wildly. Our first had broken rock-hard beds and a broken AC. We were moved, and though the new room had AC, the beds were still miserable. Towels are rationed: pool towels only 9–5, no using room towels or taking them to the beach, or you’re fined. The owner’s dogs bark, growl, and jump on guests. A late checkout wasn’t allowed, even though the hotel was nearly empty. Sleeping in past 5am is impossible because most windows have no curtains or just see-through fabric. To top it off, I left two small night lights and returned the next day—suddenly they’d “never seen them.” Thieves. I’ve stayed at five properties in Manuel Antonio and never once been disappointed—until now. This place is dishonest, uncomfortable, and hostile to guests. Do yourself a favor: avoid at all costs.
