"A great value and clean hotel for a quick stopover right in the middle of town. The self check in was easy and clear comms from the staff by email. Great to have a Nespresso machine in the room and a communal lounge with fridge etc too. 5 mins walk from Altstätten Stadt station on the lovely mountain railway to Appenzell and beyond. 20 mins walk or quick bus to Altstätten SG mainline station so easy to get around without a car. "Charming independent hotel. Pet-friendly and (for humans!) a tasty breakfast buffet is included. Our room was small but we had booked the cheaper option and it was only for one night, so it was perfect for us. Parking is free on-site. (Not to be assumed in Europe!) This does not pretend to be a luxury hotel. But it’s clean and tidy and excellent value for money."

"Die Mitarbeiter beim Frühstück waren sehr bemüht. Sobald am Frühstücksbuffet etwas nicht mehr verfügbar war, wurde unverzüglich nachgelegt, superfreundliches Personal. Die Empfehlung beim Checkin bezüglich Parkmöglichkeit über Nacht lässt zu wünschen übrig. Uns wurde ein teures Parkhaus gegenüber empfohlen, obwohl es einen günstigeren Parktarif direkt an der Straße gegeben hätte."

"Very clean, friendly stuff and well located in the Rhine Valley. The only thing missing in the room was a minibar. Other than that it was amazingly clean, well maintained and had plenty of space for bikes and cars. Great food, plenty and amazing breakfast and all in all recommendable."
