Ruedesheim am Rhein Travel Guide

Tourist Guide
Ruedesheim am Rhein
Find out about the region’s variety of wine grapes, stroll along cobbled lanes in the Old Town and ride a gondola over the stunning terrain.

Ruedesheim am Rhein is a charming town full of historical gems, cultured wineries and a lively nightlife. The town is famous for its winemaking, with vineyards and castles dotted around its outskirts. Marvel at the array of historical buildings and parks in this fascinating region.

The weather here is fairly wet, with warm summers and mild winters, which help to cultivate the vineyards. Make your way to the various wine complexes, such as the Georg Breuer Winery in the heart of the historic center. Learn about the grape varieties of the region with a trip to the Rheingau Wine Museum. It lies inside the medieval Brömserburg Castle.

Continue the wine tour with a trip to the quaint, narrow alley of Drosselgasse, known for its wineries and tavern gardens. Enjoy its lively and friendly atmosphere. Visit the pubs and clubs here in the evening for a glimpse into the town’s nightlife. Browse the many stalls of the Christmas Market held on this alley annually. Admire the architectural delight of Breuer’s Rüdesheim Castle.

Wander through the Old Town for a range of intriguing buildings. Spend time at Siegfried’s Mechanical Music Cabinet in the 15th-century Brömserhof court. The Middle Ages Torture Museum and the Rüdesheim Toy Museum are also fun and interesting.

Get a different perspective with a ride on the Ruedesheim Cable Car. Appreciate the excellent views of the Old Town with the Rhine River and green mountains in the distance. Its destination is the impressive Niederwald Monument, which symbolizes the unity of all Germany. Inspect the intricate details and reliefs on this large statue in a landscaped park.

Find the town in the Rhine Gorge in the region of Hessen in western Germany. Fly to Frankfurt Airport and drive west for about 45 minutes to get here. Visit nearby towns of interest, such as Koblenz and Kaiserslautern.

Ruedesheim am Rhein is a place for sophistication, with excellent wine-tasting and historic tours.

Rudesheim very busy and a bit 'touristy'. Much better to stay in Assmannhausen and visit Rudesheim, excellent cable car connections, or train, or really nice vineyard or riverside walk. It is about 5km. Hotel is a perfect base.

If you are interested in wine and wine tasting, this town is a must. It's very attractive, but overrun with tourists. Even with a car with Munich plates, we were definitely auslanders. The Hotel was very correct, breakfast was excellent
